Jimmy Foxx hit 50 home runs in 1938 and it is amazing that record stood until last night as the most ever hit by a Red Sox player. Williams, Yaz, Rice and others came close but Ortiz caught him last night. Congrats

Did you catch that game yesterday? His next at bat after hitting #51 Chris back back back Berman chimed in with "here comes Big Papi who now holds the single season HR record"! Those weren't his exact words because I don't remember them but it sounded very strange. I rewound it and listened to it again and he had no intentions of saying for the BOSOX and nobody mentioned that either. Maybe it's my hate for Berman and Ortiz that makes it bother me.

Mere words cannot express the depth of my apathy.

Could you imagine Berman and McCarver together?

A true power hitter hits line drives into the alleys. That 37 foot wall puts a damper on those liners leaving the yard.

The wall cost Jim Rice 10-15 homers a year. Line drives that would be homers anywhere else became singles at Fenway.

Ortiz tied an American League record yesterday in Toronto - most home runs hit on the road in a season.

He shares the record with a former Red Sox player who later played in New York

George Herman Ruth

Three days after breaking Jimmie Foxx’s club record for home runs in a single season by belting his 51st and 52nd at Fenway Park (http://news.bostonherald.com/search/?searchSite=true&keyword=Fenway+Park&mode=all&sorting=pubdate), Ortiz tied Babe Ruth’s American League record for road homers by clobbering his 32nd in the first inning of the Red Sox’ sloppy 13-4 loss to the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

Since the Green Monster has been mentioned, Fenway, any truth to the rumor that Red Sox fans now call King George's wallet the Green Monster ?
