If the playoffs started today, who would you root for?

The Bears.

In 2001-2003, I've rooted for Oakland to make it, and they've usually disappointed me. Somehow, I think this year won't be any different, but I'll still pull for them. 2003 was the biggest one of them all because in the bottom of the ninth inning of game 5 of the ALDS against Boston, the A's had the bases loaded with 2 out and Terrence Long was up. I believe that the winning run was on second base. The bastard got CALLED out on strikes. Get the ****ing bat off of your shoulder, Terrence! As far as non-Sox games go, that the angriest I've ever been watching a baseball game.

Put me in with the "Not eliminated yet crowd", but if came down to it...the Tigers. If we're giving up the division, the winner might as well go far.

I highly doubt it will happen, I'd like for Frank to get a ring. Right now, A's.

I doubt we'll see anything but a Subway series, but frankly, when it comes down it I'll root for any team getting in the way of that happening. In other words, if both NY teams advance to the LCS, I'm all for d'other guys.

I choose the Dodgers because they are a fun team to watch BUT were not eliminated yet.

TornLabrum

Since the thread says would, I'd say that "We're not eliminated yet is really not a valid choice." So I went with the A's for obvious reasons (Kane County Cougars, Frank Thomas).

The team I am really wanting to root for is not eliminated yet, but of that group I would root for the Cardinals only.

Given last season and this season, I will not be watching ANY post season baseball if the Sox don't get in. Not a game, not an inning, not a pitch.

I could care less.

I may follow your lead my friend.

Part of me is TRULY impressed with the Yankees this season. They didn't get a single break. A ton of their production has been on the DL and yet they got 'er done. It doesn't feel like rooting for the evil empire - they're almost an underdog story.

That being said - if we win all remaining 11 games we will make the playoffs. Who's with me?

Just not Oakland. I'd rather die than see the FOBB win. Or the Twins. **** them.

I like the Cardinals as much as the Sox, but I'd hate to see them get destroyed again by an AL team.

I'll root for the Dodgers - good team, great guys, and great mo'.

I don't mind the Mets, especially David Wright.

The Yanks' story is pretty compelling. Especially with Sheffield shelved, I don't mind seeing a team with so much adversity still succeed. Well, they still have 8 All-Stars in the line-up...

I'd pull for the Twins or Tigers in the AL. As much as I hate rooting for the "enemy," the toughest division in baseball deserves to have the title for another year.

All-in-all, I'm happy with what's going to be a very interesting postseason. Sad to see the Sox may not defend it, but thankful they are still DEFENDING WORLD SERIES CHAMPS for another month.

Tigers no doubt. Yankees are an obvious no. Oakland always bothered me. Minnesota is annoying. I can't root for any NL team unless it's the Phillies this year. The Tigers have a great story having lost so many games as many as 2-3 years ago and coming into the situation they're in now. Tigers fans on WSI have been respectful and gracious. It would be great for the city of Detroit to win this World Series

Same here.

But when I hear on the radio news in the morning who has won what, I think I could have a better job stomaching the Yankees winning the AL than anyone else in the current bunch. I would prefer the NL come up with a surprising upset in the World Series.

As for wanting to see Frank Thomas get a ring, he already has one and doesn't have an A's ring. If I run into Frank Thomas at a casino some day, I want to see him wearing his White Sox ring.

Tigers. They've led the division most of the year, although it looks like that may be coming to an end here. But they are, for the mostpart, a likeable team. Twins...no. Yankees...of course not. A's....are you kidding me? NL teams all suck, although I'd root for the NL champion against the other three AL teams.

Until an "E" shows up next to our name in the standings, I'm ONLY pulling for the Silver and Black.

If the "E" does appear, I have to pull for the Big Hurt to actually get to play in the World Series.

In the National League, the Cardinals and Padres are actually two of my favorite teams, so I have no problem with either of them making it to the Series.

As for the AL, I guess either Detroit or Oakland. I can't root for the Yankees. If the Yankees make the Series, I'll either watch it with the sound off or see if I can catch a rerun of the Megan Mullally Show.

If I have to hear in October how bleepin' wonderful the Yankees and Jeter are, I'm gonna barf. And you just know that if they make it, we'll see dozens of pictures of Billy Crystal watching the games at Yankee Stadium because he's the only person in the world who actually likes baseball.

Frank Thomas already has a Ring. From the 05 White Sox.
That said, because im a bigger Frank Thomas fan than a Magglio or Twins fan, I'll root for the A's. However, I root for the Divisional teams too.

I gotta go Yanks.

I hate: Twins, Tigers, and Oakland...

I'm starting to sour on the Cards...

I don't necessarily like or dislike the Padres or LA, but I dont like them either...

Mets? I like Valentin, Reyes, and Wright... but they don't get me excited..

That leaves us with the Yankees. Jeter has always been one of my favorites... Torre is great and they fought through a lot this year... plus, they got a good chance to eliminate the three teams in the AL playoffs I hate.

I'm ashamed at myself, but dare I say that subway series wouldn't be that bad?

I would have really enjoyed FLA VS NYY.... NYY VS LA would be ok too I guess.

I will be watching October baseball with or without the White Sox, just like I have for decades past.

I love and respect the game itself. I won't deny myself the pleasure of a great play or pitching gem just because the Sox are the ones doing it.

I work with a Cleveland fan, and she was so bitter about not making the playoffs last year, she did not watch the series.

It struck me that perhaps she was not really a fan of the game, just the Indians.

My reply to her was "That's a shame, you missed some great baseball,"

I'll be watching. A little wistful perhaps, but I will watch.

After we won last year, I thought to myself, EVERY fan deserves this feeling once in their lives.

That being said, I won't make a fuss if Twins fans get left off that list.:o:

The cards, I have friends in St. Louis and that town is basbeall nuts..

That and the "other" fans having to see us last year and them this year would
have a small fun value to see.

Los Mets. The first baseball I ever watched was the '86 series. They have a history of disappointment like the Sox and watching them on several occasions this year has made me admire them again.

Anybody but the Yankees, but since the Padres are the only ones in that bunch who hasn't won it all, I'd go with them more than any others. Beisdes, if the Padres win the Series it'll be another team that didn't exist when the Cubs last won a pennant to win it all.
