In tonight's Dodgers-Padres game the Dodgers hit 4 straight homers down 9-5 in the bottom of the 9th and the 4 HRs tied to score. Jeff Kent, JD Drew, Russell Martin, and Marlon Anderson were the quartet.

SD took the lead in the 10th and then Nomar hit a walkoff in the bottom of the 10th.

And it appears that the 1st two in the 9th were off former Sox pitcher Jon AAAdkins.

That was a huge win for the Dodgers. I want to see them match up with the Mets- I think Maddux, Lowe, and Penny will be a tough trio to beat.

Welcome to the playoffs, LA. Your tee times are set for October 3, San Diego.

That's maybe the most dramatic ending I've seen in at least 10 years.

Wow. :o:

Not only did they hit four homeruns in a row, none of them were cheap shots, they were BOMBS. To add insult to injury, Nomar hits a two-run walkoff that was a BOMB.

What the heck was going on in LA lastnight?!?!

Most unbelievable ending in recent history. Now that's a momentum builder.

The Padres are still going to the playoffs because Philadelphia can't beat the Cubs. San Diego leaves town in the same shape they came in. While a bad loss, it's hardly one that puts them out of the playoff picture.

You're right, of course, but I've seen really bad losses take all the wind out of a team's sails, and this is not the time of the year for that. Then again, if the Phillies can't beat the Cubs...:o:

I went to the game and it was awesome. I was able to sit behind home plate for the last couple innings and saw all five HR's. What an awesome game.

But this season has been so up and down for the Dodgers, so nothing is over. The Dodgers could lose 2 of 3 to the Pirates and the Padres can sweep their next three games. It's the wild, wild west.

The Red Sox beat writer thinks it may have been the greatest ending to a game EVER

OK, kids, as incredible as the Kevin Millar walk, the Dave Roberts stolen base, and the Billy Mueller base hit off Mariano Rivera in the bottom of the ninth was in Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS, I'm asking you if there has ever been a more spectacular finish to a ballgame than what happened last night in Dodger Stadium (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2006/09/19/dodgers_blast_past_san_diego/)?

I agree. I defiintely think it propels the Dodgers into the playoffs for sure. It justs eems nobody wants that NL Wild Card berth.

Now if only the Sox could have hit back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back homeruns last night.

That was unreal.........talk about a momentum boost to take you into October. Kinda reminded me of when Iguchi took over that game against the Astros to tie it up, except we didn't win that one. :(:

Somebody told me today and I didn't believe it. The Dodgers are for real, and if Pedro isn't healthy for the Mets, the Dodgers could upset them in the NLCS.

Wat's more amazing is that the Padres took about 10 minutes warming up Hoffman and the Dodgers just waited, and thenHoffman comes out and the next batter hits the first pitch out, like nothing happened. Incredible. They could go a long way.
