I never think it is a good idea to sell tickets before you clinch......

If you want tickets to see the Tigers in the playoffs, forget standing in line or camping out. You will need a computer or a phone.

The Tigers announced Wednesday that when they put tickets for the American League Division Series on sale Tuesday, fans only can purchase seats through the team’s Web site — www.tigers.com (http://www.tigers.com/) — or through its ticket hotline — 248-25-TIGER (248-258-4437).

The sale begins at 10 a.m. with a six-ticket limit for each of the three potential games.

The twins have also announced their tickets go on sale Sept. 20. YOu can only buy tix to all 3 potential ALDS games, no single game tix.

When else would they do it? If it comes down to the last Sunday they would have two days to get everything together.

Haven't the White Sox already asked their season ticket holders to send in money for playoff tickets? Have they clinched?

Still, the timing of the Tigers selling playoff tickets while the team is struggling should be fodder for the media.

I don't know if the White Sox sold 1967 World Series tickets. I do know they printed them, but I don't know of anyone who actually bought any. Now, of course, the Sox are just notifying season ticket holders of the sale.

The Sox sold them last year on the 15th when they were slumping. The Tigers are currently in the playoffs with a 3 game cushion with ~15 to go. They should be selling tickets.

The Sox notified ST holders a month ago and the invoices are already paid.
