Matsui returned to the Yanks lineup tonight and they are up 9-0 in the first. I know the lineup was already ridiculous, but just take a look at the 1 through 9 they have sent out there today.

Damon
Jeter
Abreu
A-Rod
Giambi
Posada
Cano
Matsui
Cabrera

If Sheffield is ready for the playoffs you can throw him in there over Melky (not that Cabrera is any slouch either). That is probably the most dangerous lineup I've ever seen since I started following baseball. Unbelievable.

1) They're playing Baltimore

2) Remind me again who the Yanks have pitching for them so I can have a good chuckle.

3) The Yanks had virtually the same lineup last year

4) Remind me who won the World Series

Money talks.Loudly.

If I hear one more person talk about how Jeter should be MVP because of how he held the Yankees together through adversity, I think I'll puke. The only adversity the Yankees ever face is when they spend huge amounts of money on the wrong guys.

1) No matter who they play, thats a sick lineup.
2) You can have a similar chuckle by looking at the Sox staff this year
3) Virtually same Lineup? Damon/Abreu...... come on now
4) At least they have a good chance to win THIS year.

I don't understand the bitching about the yanks.... they are winning... we aren't. Therefore, they are better.

Exactly. Adversity my ass. They're used to being the anteater in the anthill.

Kidding me, right? First off all I was saying that the lineup is amazing, but if you want to talk about the team overall...sure.

1. Not that it really matters, but they played Tampa, not Baltimore. And the pitcher was the same guy who just shut down the Sox a couple weeks ago.

2. The Yanks have a fine 1,2,3 for the playoffs in Mussina, Wang, and Johnson. Johnson has been inconsistent, but he has turned it up more recently and has a lot of post season experience. Wang and Mussina are pitching better than anyone has for the Sox so far this year.

The bullpen is sketchy, but they have a horse in Proctor, and of course they have Rivera sitting at the end of the line to nail it down.

3. This was already answered. Abreu and Damon are huge additions to an already amazing lineup. Cano has only gotten better as well.

4. I wasn't comparing this year to last year at all. Last year I would have picked the Sox over the Yanks in a series. This year? No way.

What? Without Jeter's awesome leadership, the Yankees would be in last place. He's the greatest baseball player ever, not overrated at all. I know this is true, because they said so on ESPN.

With that money, I would be more suprised if they did not have that lineup and were not winning the game.
