Dwight Smith (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cs-0609120099sep12,1,3106575.story?coll=cs-baseball-print) arrested for cocaine possession.

Unlike the articles about Belle, Ligue, etc. (which were treated as major Sox stories), the good folks at the Trib's web site did not feature this on the front-page of chicagotribune.com and did not link it on the front page of chicagosports.com. It's on the main "Cubs & Sox" page of the print edition along side Sullivan's Cubs' article, but Knue buried it...again.

Ummm....maybe because it's barely newsworthy, muchless front-page worthy. I realize his impact on the Cubs was tremendous, so the only logic I can concieve of why this was merely a blurb was because of the 9/11 coverage.

I agree. None of these stories are particularly newsworthy, and they all should be treated the same as the Smith story...but they're not.

Well, Albert Belle is much like Barry Bonds. People love to hate him so why not add fuel to the fire. Ligue did something more memorable than anything Dwight Smith ever did...and more recently. I'm not saying I'm constantly Googling their names, but those two clowns are always good for a laugh when they continue to screw up at the game of life

First time I ever heard a Sox fan say they wanted to hear MORE about Ligue. There are multiple threads (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=66659&highlight=ligue) devoted to the opposite proposition.

I never want to hear more about Ligue. However if given the choice between a some jamoke that played for the Cubs for a couple years who has a little blow problem and a deadbeat that keeps finding different ways into the Cook County Court system....I'll choose the latter. I'd much rather see none of it covered, but as long as the Tribune survives so will the stories

Hangar is that you????? For the record, the first time I saw that story was on the trib's website yesterday, and it said "ex-Cub in trouble" or something like that. I don't think they purposely tried to hide it.

Tough month for the Dwight Smith's of the world. The Vikings safety Smith gets in trouble for "exposing himself." Now this.
