Watching the sox this year, Hawk is generally good at tipping his cap to the other team (especially when they are beating the sox). But there are some guys that he would have put in the HOF yesterday if it were up to him (and after awhile, does it get annoying?)...

Here's who I have as locks in Hawk's HOF:

Pretty much anyone on the Twins, but especially Santana and Radke (Santana will probably a real HOF'er)
Sizemore
Mike Sweeney
Blyleven (not active, and deserving, but I hear this rant every week from Hawk)

anyone else recall Hawk raving on anyone?

I seem to remember he had a lot of man-love for Erik Bedard earlier this year.

Ichiro and Miguel Tejada come to mind as well, although I think DJ had a bigger crush on Ichiro than Hawk did.

Mark Grudzilanek (sp?) and Mike Sweeney of the Royals come to mind.

Hawk has mucho man love for Grady Sizemore.

After watching Sizemore play, I can't say that I disagree with Hawk.

Carl Ystermenski or however you spell that damn name. He was a pretty darn good player though.

He did love the Big hurt, so I guess he is in.

Man I can't think of anyone right now, but great thread.

I remember when I was playing in Japan, they had this throwing contest during the All Star break. Ichiro had an absolute cannon...

This thread is kinda funny, Hawk's evaluation of talent (HOF), one of the worst GM's ( talent evaluator ) in sox history.

This thread goes hand & hand with Hawk's.."The Greatest I've ever seen" comments.

Fastest out of the box=Mickey Mantle
Best RH hitter=BIG HURT
Best LH hitter=? Maybe Griffey
Best Pitcher=Johan Santana & Catfish Hunter
Best Competitor=Black Jack
Best Person to play RF for Boston= Dwight Evans
Best BP hitter=? I know he mentioned it. It's someguy that hit like 600ft Hrs in BP, but changed his approach in the game and didn't do anything.

Recent Hawk favorites= Greg 'Little Bulldog" Hibbard, "Little Hurt" Criag Grebeck, "The Deacon" Warren Newsom, Pablo, and the infamous "One Dog" Lance Johnson

Anyways, I'm sure there's a lot more.....help me out.

GO SOX!

One of the current players Hawk praises the most is Sabathia.

"If he is on, their ain't a damn thing you can do."

Actually, most of the time Hawk is raving about him he is having an off day, but our hitters repeatedly go down on pitches outside or in the dirt. It is frustrating when he gives the opponents way too much credit instead of saying "we are sucking today".

I've heard Hawk say that Mickey Mantle was the...

Fastest man from first to third.

Best two strike bunter he ever saw. (How many times did this happen?)

Best knuckle ball by a non-pitcher.

Made the best grilled cheese sandwich

Brian Anderson -- Ken Griffey looks like Brian Anderson when he goes back on a fly ball.

Roger Bossard -- Without a doubt, the best head groundskeeper in the American League

The Bertucci Boys -- best ballpark catering

Damn. Someone beat me to the Bertucci Boys reference.

People Hawk also loves:

1. A.J. (although I think the love may be waning a little. Refers to him more lately as "Pierzynski" than "A.J.")

2. Sam McDowell

3. Don Drysdale

4. Most members of the PGA Tour

5. The club pros at Bolingbrook and Seven Bridges

Isn't it "Suck 'em up,Joe"??:?: :?:

Hawk normally says it when Crede makes a great throw to first.

yea, it doesn't seem to take much to get a "JOE!! CREDE!!" out of hawk anymore. it was great when he hit that walk-off against the toons last year, but now all it takes is joe making a throw on the run to get it out of him.

I don't know if you mean players that only Hawk loves, but he has said many times that Griffey Jr. in his young days was the best all-around player he'd ever seen.

A player Hawk nominated for his "all-carmine-derriere" club was Paul O'Neill.

Delmon Young drew a lot of Hawk love for his debut ML series at the Cell:

"In my 44 years in this business I have never seen a 20-year-old come up from the minors on a Tuesday and by Thursday you're saying, don't let him beat you."

A little early for the Hawk HOF, but "he has a chance."

I think his most loved non White Sox player this year is Jim Edmunds. He sure talked a lot about him those three games, also saying he should be in the real Hall of Fame.
