Great way to start the trip. Very encouraging outing from Jose. Come on man we need you!

Do we own the Angels or what? Is that 7 in a row in LA and 9 out of the last 10?

Jose with a friggin gem.

Hopefully, Bobby's last 2 batters are more of what we'll see in the future, as opposed to his first 2.

Winning is fun.

Great starting pitching is fantastic.

The combination of the two = bliss.

Let's get a good start from Buehrle tomorrow to continue the good starting pitching we've had lately. Oh and if I'm not mistaken, we are now 7-0 in our last 7 games at Angel Stadium. West Coast? Screw that :supernana:

Hung a curve to Vlad, left a fastball over the plate to Anderson, then settled in getting the DP ground ball and a nice K to end the game against an overmatched hitter.

Hung a curve to Vlad, left a fastball over the plate to Anderson, then settled in getting the DP ground ball and a nice K to end the game against an overmatched hitter.

Both of the two singles came on 0-2 counts. Bobby tried the fast curve on Vlad who ripped it for a single then tried the fastball on the next guy (because the curve got ripped by the last guy) who promptly ripped it for a single. Looked like they were making a conscious effort to switch things up, but Bobby was up in the zone with both pitches and the batter won the battle...

So should we release Jose now or tomorrow? :rolleyes:We should sit him the rest of the year and then trade him. His value will never be higher.

Great start by Jose. If he has another good start in his next game, I think we can declare his slump officially over. Lackey is a really good pitcher, so 3 runs off of him is somewhat respectable. We had a much better game against him than we did against Fatbastarda yesterday. Buehrle gets the phenom tomorrow. Hopefully he steps up and duplicates his ALCS performance, and hopefully the offense can string together a few more hits.

I agree. This is the best I've felt since the All-Star break. Despite our woefull bullpen during the last stand, our starting pitching has been pretty good. With that, I think we have a good shot.

Jose is getting hot at just the right time. I'll take a hot set of Jose, Jon, & Javy versus any one in a 5 game set. I hope Ozzie can recognize this if we do indeed get in. Freddy and Mark have no business sniffing a play off start over those 3 guys mentioned.

... So, Jenks looked better, even though he did get into a little trouble out there. What do you all think? Were his two blown saves just a fluke or was something wrong with him?

Suburbanbuddha
09-12-2006, 01:00 AM
It was HUGE to win a low scoring game like this. Solid starting and relief pitching (mostly). Looking ahead, I'm a bit nervous about soo many wins in Anaheim and a slumping Oakland - these are both good teams and I'd prefer them to be fat and lazy when the Sox come to town. Looks like this will all come down to the Tiggers and Twinkies serieses (is that a word?) Hopefully with one or both of 'em looking up at our Sox.
If the Twins could go ahead and start losing now, that would be greeaat mmkay.

He still isn't 100% crisp. I think he really did/does have a hip problem.

His hips didn't "pop" or snap his top-half over to pull his arm through in the 4 double outing.

They were much better tonight, but he didn't have the crisp break on the curve and movement on the fastball yet. Tonight was certainly better, though.

Didn't appreciate the scare from Jenks there though.

Everyone is talking about a scare from Jenks - and yes, it was scary, BUT I DO want to point out that he DID save the game AND he got the strike out to end it. Pretty nice way to go, if you ask me. Lets not focus on the scare, but rather on the fact that he looks much better than he did the other night, mmk?

Great job by Jose, especially keeping the ball out of the hands of the inflammable short/middle relief guys. Scored all the runs w/o benefit of a HR.

I should have taken a nap before the game. I fell asleep before the end of the game and totally missed BBJ's "exciting" 9th inning (thank goodness). I'm happy the Sox won a low-scoring game. Jose was awesome!

Which, oddly enough, is when the price of crude oil peaked this summer well over $70 a barrel. It's been a wild ride since. Crude has dropped about 17 percent but the White Sox have shot back.

Too bad about the Twins winning, though.

... So, Jenks looked better, even though he did get into a little trouble out there. What do you all think? Were his two blown saves just a fluke or was something wrong with him?

Just a guess, but probably Jenks is tired and has some aches and pains, particularly in his hip. (Not to be snotty about it, but the first thing I thought when I heard that his hip was bothering him was 'um, drop 30 pounds, Bobby, that will probably help a lot.')

I don't think it will interfere with his availability for the remaining season and post-season.

I do hope that after this year, Jenks and the team will get him onto a good conditioning regimen. I know he showed up to spring training this year really overweight and out of shape, and that absolutely takes a toll, even months later.

The two singles he gave up freaked me out a bit and I started to turn off the TV (cover my eyes), but the double-play just then allowed me to breathe again.

Jose Contreras was so solid, it looks like whatever's been bothering him is gone. :D:

What a studly outing by Jose! He seemingly can throw out donuts at will. I can sense that he'll be the one carrying us across the finish line with the rest of his starts.

An honorable mention goes out to Konerko's defense last night. Without it, we might've gone to extra innings.

In stark contrast to recent weeks the sox wrung the max number of runs out of only 4 hits on the nite.

Thankfully, they bunched big Jims walk,PK's beautiful go with the pitch liner to right, AJ's clutch 0-2 liner , Joes seeing eye grounder and Macks solid sac fly into 3 big runs.

3 of the total of 4 hits and the only walk all together- nice. timely hitting is always the key against good pitchers like lackey, both santanas and Zito.

Jose looked like his old self- awesome. Bobby was decent- mistake to vlad but andersons was not hard hit and if vlad was not running tadahito may have gotten to it.

Big win- it is really dawning on me how few games we have left (18) to catch someone. Any loss at this point is pretty devastating.

Hopefully, Gurrier starting for minny tonite for his first start of the year will get lit up. And Rogers goes down in detroit. Time for Vincente Padilla to make up for his earlier transgression against the sox and kick detroit to the curb. Knowing Buck S. he will experiment with rookies against detroit the next two games. He will want the sox to go down.

I am a nervous wreck,officially.
