View Full Version : Stinkin' West Coast--Angels Not to Be Dismissed

From the slightly warmed frying pan (the Indians) into the fire....the Angels are playing well (8-2 in their last ten) and behind us in the wild card. They have to be thinking that they have to rough up the Sox if they want any kind of chance (5 back of us, I believe). Add to that the fact that they hafta be looking for payback from last year's playoffs and the beatin' we put on them out in the OC earlier this year (and never mention our historic difficulties on the West Coast) and it's looking like our task out in Anaheim will be real tough.

I think the camera shot from yesterday's game that most sums up my apprehensions about the Sox was that picture of our four middle relief mopes--Cotts, McCarthy, Logan and Riske--sitting in the dugout after having failed yet again to do the job. Not a vision to fill one with confidence.

At least we miss Weaver. That's why the Sox needed to pound on TB, KC, and CLE, because now it gets tough. Well, they DO have a good record vs. winning teams, let's hope that negates the whole west coast thing.

Yeah, don't look now, but the Angels all of a sudden get their last best chance to get into the playoff hunt. They're past Boston probably for good and now clearly have their sights on the Sox. If the Sox keep up that deer in the headlights mentality the next three days, look out.

I wish we could've had this trip in June instead. It's a victory if we tread water with Detroit until next Monday when we get one last crack at them. If we're 3.5 back when they come to town, we're in good shape. And if they want to continue tanking it they're more than welcome. I could even see us picking up a game going 3-3.

:?: Why is everyone so scared of the left coast this year? I'm not. We conquered those demons last year in the ALCS.

9 game west coast trip? OK. Sox take 2 out of 3 from both FOBB and 2 of 3 from LAA with a sweep in Seattle.

Seattle comes to us.

Hopefully our struggles in Anaheim are a thing of the past. I believe we've won the last six games in Anaheim (ALCS plus first trip this year). Oakland is a different matter, as anyone who remembers last year's trip can attest. Taking two out of three from the A's will be hard.

Cleveland may be below .500, but they were 16-4 in their last 20 games coming into Chicago.

The Angels and A's have been hot of late too. So, as you suggest it isn't going to get any easier.

I am fearful of Lackey, Santana , Zito and Haren.

We face those four guys this week and I doubt we can hit any of them. To make it worse the twins miss Zito , and we get them.

halladay gets hit in the elbow so the tigers will not face him later this month.

Just seems like the baseball gods are conspiring with our own team to steal away our god-given right to playoff baseball.

4 of 6 is a must for our team ... being that we couldn't take 3 of 4 versus AAA Cleveland.

I guess we will play up to the competion the same way play down to it (KC, TB, CLE)

When you have trouble with the Royals and D-Ray, you should be scared of EVERYONE!

Tonight's game is crucial. Jose needs to get it done versus Lackey tonight. If we get this game I think we will get at least 2 of 3.

Who knows why, but Seattle has been playing well since losing 9-in-a-row and 20-straight in their division -- I'm not kidding.

We can sweep the Tigers, but we can't win a series against the Royals.

I think that just says we have trouble against crappy teams. We also seem to have trouble against crappy pitchers.

Anyone seeing a pattern here?
