September 9, 1983 - The Sox express roars on crushing former Sox great Tommy John and the Angels 11-0. What’s significant in this one is for the first time in memory, the Sox hammer back to back to back home runs. They’re courtesy of Carlton Fisk, Tom Paciorek, and Greg Luzinski. In the same game Britt Burns throws a one hitter. Outfielder Mike Brown’s two out single in the 7th inning was Britt’s only mistake.

Shout out to Britt Burns, my WSI namesake, on the anniversary of the 2nd best game he ever pitched (Game 4 of the '83 ALCS has to be the tops, Tito Landrum notwithstanding). Man I loved watching him pitch.

Ahh the Winning Ugly year. Burns along with "Cy" Hoyt, Banny and Dotson made for an impressive rotation. A pox on Tito Landrum!!!!

Don't forget the guy who held them together in the first third of the season Jerry Koosman.
