A wordy title, sorry, but the question is: which of the Sox has to be the team leader NOW? Which player has to throw the others on his back and carry the Sox to the finish line, and the post-season?

This is a public, multiple choice poll.

PK.

Time to step up, knock off the rally killing DP hitting, and get these guys fired up.

Crede, just to prove he can.

Thome. He doesn't have a ring. That has to be a huge motivating factor for him. Now is the time for him to spark this offense.

I'm going with AJ. There will be one of his classic "incidents" and this team will rip off 8 in a row.

I was just going to post the same thing. Plus, he appears to be a real clubhouse guy people will listen to.

The MVP will prove he is the MVP.

I have a feeling Mr. Thome is going to go on a hot streak like he had at the beginning of the year and finish what he started. MB is my choice for pitchers:smile:

I voted for Dye. If you want to be the MVP, you gotta BE the MVP.

Also, the half of the rotation that sucks at any given moment needs to stop sucking.

Lastly, the WSI Drinking Team needs to drink like never before.

I voted Thome for the same reasons others gave, but I'm wondering if someone like Sweeney might get it all going. I know it's only been one game so far, but here's a guy who wasn't part of last year, which could be a big motivator. And he seems to have a lot of enthusiasm, which the team sure as hell could use some of.

I said the same thing.

Now is as good of a time as any for this team to find it's "edge" - and the only player that can help them find it is AJ.

It was the team that fell behind the WC race, and it has to be the team to get them to the playoffs.

Jim doesn't strike me as the type of guy who says a whole helluva lot. If that's the case, and he says something now, it will resonate with his teammates.

Dye, Thome, Konerko, etc. have been carrying the team and well, they are where they are. It has to be the starting pitching.

I voted Konerko. He has yet to get really, classic-Konerko hot where...

:hawk
he'g'n get'm self out...but you ain't gonna get 'eem out.

I also have this strange feeling about Garcia. I have a feeling he's gonna pitch his ass off his next start and that'll set us on our way somehow. It'll be someone very unlikely and I believe it will be him. :mg:

I got the feeling about Bobby Jenks last year. It seemed like his arrival, and subsequent success, alleviated the fears the team may have had about their bullpen.

Konerko. As much as he's been struggling lately, he's bound to break out and go nuts.

Im hoping Pods says screw all this crap and ignites this team as he has done in the past whenever he plays.

Starting Pitching.

The last 4 starts had hints of excellence in parts and Contreras even pitched OK in that 5th, but the defense let him down big time. Freddy was left in too long IMO, and that changed that entire game. If this team expects to go to the playoffs it ALL starts with pitching.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Sweeney. He can provide a bit of energy and (hopefully) in place of Pods, actually get something going at the top of the order early in games while not providing the automatic out when the bottom of the order actually gets on base.

Now all it takes is for Ozzie to play him, but his comments make it seem like he might actually do that if he keeps it up.

I think Pods, with his back against the wall, will get it going again.
