It means he just got called up, and I don't have nothing to add...except that he never returned the two photos I sent to Charlotte a month ago and asked him to sign.

We could have used him last night, that's for sure.

Too bad he can't start. I'm not expecting too much.

Since he was on the DL, this apparently would mean that if he out-pitches someone else (like, say, Cotts) in the next three weeks, he could be added to the playoff roster, right?

Let's hope so. But let's also remember he's going to be pretty rusty, we have to assume. I'm going to cut him some slack his first game or two. Heck, I may cut him slack the rest of the year and blame ozzie for trotting him out there if he sucks. But the Sox need some kind of spark in that bullpen.

Playoffs? What are you talkin' about? Playoffs? Are you kidding me? I just hope we can win a game.

And not a minute too soon. McCarthy has been bad the past week and Ozzie seems to have lost confidence in Riske leaving Jenks and Mike MacD as our only reliable righties.

Do you mean any games in particular, or "must win" games only?

I believe he was going for the Jim Mora quote.

We get Hermanson back......they get Ortiz. Last night Vtek, Nixon, and Manny. Bad timing or what.

I was aiming at the group who live and die by "must win" games. No harm no foul, we all had a laugh.

A few weeks back, KW said he intended to call up Hermanson only as a courtesy, because he can't pitch back-to-back games. Unless he starts throwing well on back-to-back games (and left-handed), he's no threat to Cotts. Not that Ozzie should give him any meaningful opportunities.

This thread shows that some people really aren't able to grasp sarcasm without teal, no matteer how blatant the sarcasm.

Well at this point, he can't be worse than Cotts. Maybe he can serve us as a right handed specialist pitching to a tough righty and then pulling him out. But we may get lucky and he reverts to last season domination form.

I would count on Boone Logan more than Hermanson to take Cotts' role.

Jenks is gone for a bit. Sent back to Chicago due to sore hip.

Hermanson may not make a difference in the 'pen, but he could be the spark that this bullpen needs.......its worth a shot.

No teal, I'm looking forward to seeing Hermanson pitch again, though I recognize it doesn't speak well for our playoff chances. He's a gutsy guy who didn't get as much credit as he deserved last year because his success happened early in the season. Maybe he'll be this year's El Duque, catching lightning in a bottle.

...throw him [Hermy] into the breach!...

From the Chicago Sun Times (Wednesday)
''No matter what, No. 1, I wanted to come back here and pitch for this team,'' Hermanson said. ''I didn't want to be released and go to another team. I wanted to keep rehabbing and win a World Series with the team that I won it with last year and then do it again....I feel like I have so much to offer these people, the fans..."

The White Sox need an injection of guts, heart and fire to get past the Twins and/or Tigers over the next few weeks...even if he's just on the bench, in the bullpen or in the clubhouse...I'm glad Hermie's back. :gulp:

He looked good to me last night. No velocity on his pitches, but, that tailing away changeup looked nasty. I'm glad for Herm-Dog. Hopefully he can keep it going.

If he can give us a few quality outings, it will be great. We need someone to give us a spark out of the pen. Hopefully BBJ can get healed soon. We need him to close games.
