Both teams havethe 12:00 matinee games against TB and SEA.

Twins take 2/3, Tigers lose 2/3 (Santana is in this series).

Those that have MLB Extra Innings can watch Borchard, Olivo and Chris B. Young (.360, 1, 8) play in the D-Backs/Marlins game.

This Corcoran pitching for the Devil Rays threw pretty well against the Sox. Let's just hope the Twins get this loss today, and Garland throws a great game tonight so we can breathe a little bit.

As for the Tigers, I don't see them collapsing that far, and I don't see the Twins or White Sox playing that well over 26 games to catch them. Just my humble opinion. It would take Garland and Buehrle pitching the way they have, and Contreras and Garcia joining them. I've seen nothing over the last three months that would suggest we'll have 4 starters clicking at the same time.

The problem is we have to actually win two games in a row, because Santana isn't going to lose tomorrow. Or we'll be back right where we started.

Tigers 2-1, Magglio actually homered. I think that's a couple this week now. Top of 4th.

Our good friend Mr. Corcoran got out of 1st and 3rd, one out (thanks to Zobrist error). 0-0

Corcoran is holding up fine so far, and even pitched over what looked like a key error by Zobrist.

It's certainly nice to see "Ty" Punto come down to earth.

Delmon Young is actually retired with runners on 2nd and 3rd, two outs.

I think the key with him is to get ahead and make him fish...I'm surprised they didn't walk him. So much for Hawk's theory about not letting him beat you, lol.:(:

0-0 Bottom 4. Corcoran 51 pitches thru 4.

Corcoran makes quick work of the Twins 3-4-5 hitters on seven pitches. Two foulouts and a three pitch strikeout of Morneau. :bandance:

The Mariners have six hits and two walks so far, but only one run to show for it :?:.

Surely they'd have a 5 spot by now if they still had Crazy Carl.

Twins--Leadoff double goes for naught in the 5th. DP by Jason Bartlett. :bandance:

Corcoran escapes a leadoff Hunter double, 1st and 2nd, one out this time.

Our friend Jason Bartlett hits a tailor-made DP ball to SS.

Still 0-0.

Twins 0 for 3 with RISP, including a bad K by Phil Nevin with an opportunity to advance Hunter to 3rd with one out (sound familiar?).

You can't hope to stop Dioner Navarro, you can only contain him when batting LH. Solo homer off Boofster, 1-0, bottom of the 5th.

Dioner Navarro is the ****ing man! 1-0 Devil Rays on his solo shot.

Edit: I see a lot of us are keeping a close eye on this game.

Memo to KW: Never, I repeat never acquire Adrian Beltre. Wait, there's a Man Law Addendum. Acquire Beltre only when you can acquire Ichiro in the same deal.

Our friend Nick Punto not having a great game today, another DP ball by the Twins turns their inning around.

And I think I'm going to have to go with Nate Robertson over Freddy Garcia this year...when's the last time Garcia left a game after giving up only one run?

MEMO JUST IN TO MADDON: PLEASE DON'T HAVE D. YOUNG BUNT!!!

Cue nightmare background tracks as I reminisce about walkoff Carl Crawford homers to RF.

Tiggers now lead 4-1 after a 2-run double by Infante

Still 8-16 over their last 24 if they go on to win.

Obviously, it would be nice if we won tonight with our best pitcher. Not going to call it a "must win" because we say that every game and lately, it hasn't done any good.

Justin Morneau stealing?
Well, one out now, runner on 2nd. Nice job by Hunter NOT advancing the runner to 3rd. They look like the Sox. That's twice the middle of the order hitters haven't executed well in this game. Nevin DOESN'T come through again. 2 outs.

0/5 with RISP now for the Twinkies.

@#^@$#@$^$^

Hanging 0-2 breaking ball to White, 2-1 Twins. Well, it was nice while it lasted I guess.

2-1 Twins 7th inning. 2 out homer by Rondell White on a 1-2 count.

Not looking good. 2-1 going to the 9th. Going to have to beat Nathan.

The D-Rays made one mistake the entire game and paid for it.

The Twins' bullpen closed out a one run lead, something we failed to do last week against the D-Rays.

Bonser continues to pitch well. Whatever happens, Bonser/Garza/Baker are going to be ready to roll from the beginning of the season next year.

And it looks like the Marlins are going to win again. First team to get to .500 after being 20 games or more under. Will be 1.5 games out.

Which is something that could easily happen to the White Sox if we don't wake up, because Santana's pitching tomorrow night.

Oh, yeah, and the Twins figured out how to pitch to Young and Crawford.

I'm just hoping the Tigers can take three of four against the Twins this weekend, and that we can at least tread water. But something worries me about the Red Sox and Indians. I think we will be lucky to go .500 this week.

If I keep saying that, maybe they will actually start to play well and prove me wrong, lol.

White Sox 4-3 their last 7, Twins are on a 3-5 stretch.

I live in SW Florida, just watched Twins beat TB. Both teams looked like they actually cared. Maybe the Sox will care the next 4 weeks. By the way does Freddy Garcia ever care. what a stiff.

Minn det win
A must win game tonight if there ever was one.
and if you disagree- you dont care about the sox.
with the way we are playing, no losses are acceptable from now on.

The division race is over for the Sox. If I hear one person say they'd rather see the Twins beat the Tigers this coming weekend I'm going to puke.

Bottom line, the Sox need wins in bunches--NOW.

I'd like to think the division race isn't over, but I don't think the Sox and Twins are good enough, and I don't think the Tigers are bad enough for them to lose the division lead over these 26 games.

Detroit got to 40 games over, now 8-16 in their last 24.

The White Sox have been stuck between 21-25 games over .500 for most of the last month. 4-3 in their last 7. High point 27, 26 at the ASB.

The Twins' high point is 24 games over, when they beat us the second consecutive time last Saturday night. 3-5 since that game.

Oh, yeah, and the Twins figured out how to pitch to Young . . .

Do tell, what was it? Everything low, slow and/or inside?

caulfield12
09-04-2006, 05:14 PM
The pitchers basically got ahead in the count and then threw him outside breaking stuff off the plate trying to get him to fish for it.

One AB, he was asked to sacrifice, didn't get it done and was behind 0-2 and struck out.

Bonser had a good fastball today. You have to get it in on his hands, but he can be beaten. However, you leave it out over the plate or throw 90 MPH or less and you're done.

SoxandtheCityTee

Yeah, because I was to Steve Stone today on the car radio and he was talking about seeing D. Young in the AZ fall league last year, and going on about how you cannot get a fastball past him up in the zone, and of course commenting on his sparkling debut at the Cell. Oh well, can't count on a rookie to hit .750 against all our rivals, I guess.
