Well Sox fans, last year was an emotional roller coaster and 2006 is shaping to be one as well.

The question: how are you feeling this September 1 about your Chicago White Sox?

I think they'll turn it up when they need to. It's been a frustrating year but it's nice to know that your team is just merely playing to its potential away from winning it all.

Optimistic. They haven't played anywhere near as well as they potentially could and they're still in the thick of things.

"Go to hell, dark cloud!"

Past experience shows that we don't need this topic to start the name calling around here...

I am excited as hell! This is great baseball, September rolls around & it's a three team race.

No doubt in my mind our Palehose are going to take the Central! :bandance:

I'm excited, nervous, anxious, optimistic, pessimistic, euphoric, and depressed. This is the best time of year. We sitting right in the middle of a race. It's a story and we don't know the ending....and I'll be pacing the entire time, smoking far too many cigarettes, swearing when we don't do well, rejoicing when we do well. If we lose, I'll be dejected, if we win I'll be on top of the world. This is livin,' pure and simple. No better time to be alive!

Go Sox!

I have no idea what the hell is going to happen. I could see the Sox going 11-18, and I can see them go 20-9. I have a gut feeling that's telling me they'll go 15-14 and fall a couple games short.

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.

I feel great! We're going to make it and do just fine in the postseason!

This should be a public poll (as should all polls).

This team can take the division on talent alone. Now all that's left is the effort/consistency. Sox win the Central by 3 games.

edit: It makes for a nicer post if you don't leave out key words.

When exactly do you expect them to reach their potential? Not sayin they can't, or they won't, but time is certainly running out. You have been waiting all year for the Tigers to slide like they have, and the Sox are showing no signs that they will be able to take advantage.

Gaining 6 games in the loss column in a few weeks is pretty good progress.

All I can say is every team would like to be able to control their own destiny when September rolls around. The Sox qualify on that count.

I think the Sox have too much talent to miss the postseason, but obviously that's not the only necessary ingredient. But it sure helps, so I am cautiously optimistic.

Play ball and let's see what they got.

Go SOX!

Sox are the reigning World Series Champions until some other team takes it from them - and that ain't gonna happen this year.

This question seems to change day to day for me. We can look so good sometimes and other times just not show up at all. I am still trying to figure out this team. For all that has gone on I feel pretty good with where we stand at this point.

Would you have made this post if we had done what we should have yesterday; i.e., finished the job over the Rays and closed to within 3.5 of you guys?

IIRC, Cleveland had closed to within 1.5 of us last year with fewer games to play. And you might also keep in mind that you guys still have three against us. Sorry if I refuse to be frightened. We were accused of choking last year, and I'm hearing the same term applied to the Tigers this year (although I agree, "slide" is a much nicer way of putting it). We didn't choke last year. But since this year isn't over yet, IMO, you might want to hold off on the smug posts awhile.

all 3 Central teams seem to be struggling right now. It's time for the Sox to finally step up and grab a playoff spot.

Right now, the Tigers have the advantage over us because of a 4.5 game lead. The Twins have an advantage over us because, despite a 0.5 game deficit, they still can fall back on that final series of the season in Minnesota where we've played very poorly.

It's going to be a very interesting finish. I don't think anyone in the West or East will challenge for the Wild Card, so it will come down to a 3-way race between AL Central rivals in which 2 of them will make it to the playoffs and one of them will go home.

I would definitely say no. But I think that's the point. They certainly aren't taking advantage of the fact that the Tigers are choking (as you so appropriately put it). A Sox team clicking on all cylinders scares me. However, I'm just not sure it is going to happen. Honest opinion, and I am ready to eat my crow if thats what it comes to.
