I'm a big Brian Anderson supporter, and have been toolin' around with a little ditty to get more people on the #44 train!
Hey Ozzie, the only way to raise BA's ave., is to put him in more!

(To the tune of "There was an Old woman")

There was a young boy, who played centerfield,
He played centerfield, with an awesome glove he did wield.
He ran so fast, he ran so hard,
he made us all forget about Joe Borchard,
But he average fell, and kept getting smaller,
It kept getting smaller, until he got the collar.
Then it was Rob, instead of BA,
Instead of BA, Rob he did play.

But balls flew over, his head in the field,
Over his head, and runs he did yield.
Rob is great, when he's off the bench,
but watching his defense, is like getting hit with a wrench.

So after the break, BA got his chance,
He got his chance, in the big dance.
He began to hit, doubles and doubles,
So many doubles, that got him out of trouble.

Now this BA, he should start everday,
Start everday, is what the fans say.
We know he can field, and now he can hit,
He's an integral part, of this playoff bit.

So when you go to the cell,
and here the fans yell,
They yell for Brian,
Because they know he is tryin'!

LETS GO SOX, 2 in a row over the Drays.

Anybody else see the video of Anderson holding a microphone and "interviewing" Crede in the clubhouse?

Not much. How's this?

There once was a pitcher named Freddy
Whose fastball had been pretty steady.
But this year he stated
Only big games are rated
Important enough to get sweaty.

Lame, I know. But the initial post inspired me to give it a shot.

A-HA!!

There once was a pitcher Garcia
Much worse than "The Mind of Mencia"
Not enough rhythm to throw
Over to first, we all know
Come November the Sox will say "See Ya"

I like it ! !

Although, if you could put it with a song that was a little more "trendy", it might get more props.

A lefty reliever named Neil Whom, last year, really knew how to deal But this year, it's quite sad He has thrown really bad Not too late for a waiver-wire deal!

For some reason, the board isn't parsing line breaks from me. Screws up the "poetry" thing.

Perhaps with a section for forms other than rhymed couplets and where the lines have meter.

But Fielder Jones, sir,
Does not the form of Haiku
Merit a section?

If Brandy (:?:) played more often, his average would go down instead of steadily climbing. Have you noticed how Mack gets all the starts against tough righties while BA only plays against lefties and soft righties? It's good strategy, and why Brian has been improving as much as he has.

:?: is right. If I ever hear Anderson referred to as "Brandy" ever again, it'll be too soon.

Obviously, Mack gets starts against tough lefties from Minnesota as well. So there goes that theory.
Anyway you slice it, it's crunch time and Brian should be in center. Period.

'Twas the night before playoffs, and on the South Side
The White Sox were winning; or die as they tried.
The bullpen was nestled all snug in left field,
As Man Soo Lee took his position and kneeled.

The bats were all stacked in the dugout with care,
In hopes that Konerko would hit one somewhere.
And Oz in his goatee and Coop in his cap
Were pacing the dugout and ready to snap.

When throughout the stands there arose such a cheer
That I sprang from my seat and knocked over my beer.
Away to the basepaths I focused my view,
And saw Scotty Pods sliding into base two!

Iguchi, impassive, stood fast at the plate,
Waiting for one he could hit hard and straight.
Tadahito connected; hit one off the wall,
To demonstrate how one should play Ozzieball.

With that RBI, it was all that was scored.
Eight innings were played with no one aboard.
Guillen had a decision he could not postpone:
Do I bring in Neal Cotts, or leave him alone?

A left-handed batter was waiting on deck;
But Guillen knew Cotts wasn't earning his check.
So he made a choice, if he swims or he sinks,
He's going to signal for Bad Bobby Jenks!

Jenks came in the eighth; an unlikely move.
But Ozzie just knew he had something to prove.
"ESPN doubts me, they've got lots of nerve.
But they've never tried to hit Jenks' nasty curve!"

Jenks spoke not a word but went straight to his work.
Threw superhot fastballs and drop-curves that jerk.
Then laying a finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, one last game did he close.

Ozzie sprang off the bench, to Ozney he clung,
And said, "Fung is in winning and winning is fung!"
And I heard him exclaim, as he hugged every player,
"I think what I'll do is start running for mayor!"

With apologies to C. C. Moore.

I tall you what, when he got plunked in the elbow last night I reacted as if he was hitting .330. An immediate oh **** came out with a no not him we can't afford to lose him down the stretch. He may be hitting in the .230's but it's a very important and steadily rising .230's

The "matchup" argument is BS. Mackowiak is the one being protected, not Anderson. For most of the year, Mackowiak fattened up his average against a bunch of crappy RHP, while Anderson started against every difficult LHP in the AL (Sabbathia, Johnson, Santana, Rogers, etc.). When the Sox faced a RHP that Anderson owns (Felix Hernandez), Ozzie benched him.
