Just had to have that as a thread/headline, too funny.

That is too funny, although I don't agree with "their" MVP candidates. In my book, there's only one. JD 4 AL MVP.

Playoff odds report

From the fine folks at Baseball Prospectus (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/ps_odds.php), here are the chances each particular team will make the postseason, determined by computers that simulated the remainder of the season 1 million times.

American League
New York Yankees: 97.84 percent
Detroit Tigers: 97.57 percent
Oakland A's: 80.00 percent
Minnesota Twins*: 58.51 percent
Chicago White Sox: 41.00 percent
Los Angeles Angels (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/laa/): 16.68 percent
Boston Red Sox (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/bos/): 4.23 percent

:rolling:

Hey BP, when we clinch, will it still be 88%? :kneeslap:

It's going to come down to Jeter and then either Dye or Morneau, depending on which team gets to the playoffs. At least, that's how it looks right now.

ozzie's a weird dude

If you're rich or successful in society, you're "eclectic"

the poor and middle class are stuck with weird

I love Ozzie Guillen.

I hope he's managing until he can no longer talk.
And THEN I hope he gets fired. Not before.

I think you mean 'eccentric'... 'eclectic' means 'pulling from different, various sources...

yeah, you're right...i was getting ready to teach my first class that night and I was thinking of English words, lol.

Howard Hughes was eccentric, Lenny Kravitz or Bjork are eclectic. Eclectic usually refers to style/appearance/clothing vis a vis personality.

It's a lot better than Redmond's "smell them RBI's" t-shirts.

That's just dorky, as someone mentioned in another thread. Something from Napoleon Dynamite, lol.

ecclectic seems misused when referring to a person directly.
also in what world is Ozzie middle class? I don't think he will be hurting to put the boys through college.

the first time i heard him say pirhanas i started to giggle then i realized he is probably just pronouncing it correctly.

That was my point, people with Ozzie's money are not weird, they're eccentric or another word, quirky...

He's pronouncing it with the Spanish phonetic sounds, which is natural for a native Spanish speaker.
