What does the C in the Twins logo signify? I tried looking on the wikipedia for an answer, but couldn't find anything. Anyone have any ideas?

If you are referring to the T and C combo, it means Twin Cities.

The "C" stands for cities, as in Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul.

No, that honor goes to this atrocity - and, yes, it was a real, professional logo!

I agree that it is the dumbest logo ever. However, this stems from the fact that naming your team the "Twins" because you're from the Twin Cities is the dumbest way to name a team ever. It also stems from the fact that I hate the Twins more than any team in the majors, so everything stupid about them becomes doubly as stupid in my mind.

But really, Chicago, the Second City, or the Windy City. What if the Sox were names the Seconds or the Winds. Ick.

Possibly my favorite logo. The "M" is made up of a red "E", a white "L" and a blue "B."

E stands for Expos. L stands for league. B stands for baseball. Expos League Baseball!

The original Twins logo explains it a little better:

M stands for Minneapolis, STP stands for Saint Paul.

Both the Expos and the Twins (TC) have great logos. So did the Brewers with the glove, & the keg all forming the "M" & "B".

Actually, you are not fully right. It isn't ELB, its just EB. The "L" is just leftover space that makes up the M, it doesn't stand for anything. That is a common misnomer.
I checked Wikipedia, and it is listed there, too.

It's the stupidity behind the logo that counts!

Or if you own a minor league baseball team and name it the Windy City Thunderbolts. There have now been two teams called the Chicago Fire.

I liked the M logo, can't stand the TC logo. The C just looks like another Reds/Bears C, while the T looks a lot like the Rangers' T.

On a serious note I think Minnesota has very sharp looking road uniforms with the dark pinstripes.

Just curious if you have a source for this. For the last 15 years, I've always seen it described as ELB. Having it not be so would destroy me.

On the website Sportslogos.net, it was one a "Logo Fact of the Week" on the frontpage a few weeks ago. It is "eMB", for Expos de Montréal Baseball. That was the first I heard of it.

Thanks! I always wondered what the "ELB" stood for - the "M" didn't occur to me until years later.

That's bad, but I think the Toledo Storm of the ECHL was worse:

It looks like a 4th grader designed it.

i used to play for the twins back in little league, when they used the big "m" logo for thier hat...i hate the TC hats on thier near perfect uniform( solid mix of old skool and modern styles, and this came out in 1986! 5 years beofr ethe sox ushered in the new era of uniforms)......just another reason to hate the twinkies now

But really, Chicago, the Second City, or the Windy City. What if the Sox were names the Seconds or the Winds. Ick.

We need to cut the Minnesota baseball franchise some slack in naming thier team because the whole moniker "Minnesota Twins" is a compromise. Prior to thier inaugural season in Minneapolis, there had been a dual tradition of professional baseball in Minneapolis/St. Paul. St. Paul's team was known as the Saints, and Minneapolis was the Millers. Both names were bandied about as the name of the eventual major league franchise (there were several Minnesota ownership groups angling for one of the expansion teams to be admitted at that time). When Calvin Griffith was beaten out of his efforts to move the Senators to the West Coast when the Dodgers beat him to it, he opted for the great white north of Minnesota. In an effort to not offend either faction in the two cities, he oted to avoid using the traditioal local baseball franchise names, and came up with "Twins" himself. (I don't know if anyone ever argued that Cal was a bright boy). But, his original proposal was to have the team known as the "Twin City Twins." (Makes "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim" sound downright logical). Local officials prevailed upon Mr. Griffith to call the team the "Minnesota Twins" so as not to offend either of the cities on the banks of the Mississipi there, and potentially appeal to a broader market through out the upper midwest. But I believe the cap logo was Griffith's brainchild, and it stuck. Please note that the Twins were also the first team identified by the state where it played, rather than the city. So the Twinkerbelles have it goofed up both ways.

This discussion also calls to mind the reason for the team colors of the New York Mets. After both the Dodgers and Giants had exited New York for the West Coast, and the Mets were being placed there to replace them, there was a concern that one of the former occupants' fan base would be alienated if the new team appeared to identify more with the traditions of either the Dodgers or Giants (because, of course, those fans hated each other, and now were coming together to support the new NL team). I believe this played a factor in the Mets working hard to build a new stadium right away, so they wouldn't have a long term connection with the Polo Grounds, former home of the Giants. And, its why the team colors are what they are. They decided to combine colors from the old Dodger and Giants team uniforms. That is how the odd (at least to me, it seems odd) burnt orange/powder blue of the early Mets uniforms came to be.

I've never hated the Twins.

I do want the Sox to give them an old-fashioned smackdown to knock them out of the playoffs to end the season if it comes down to it, but that doesn't mean I hate them.

I can think of at least five teams in the AL alone I dislike more than Minnesota.

And I can think of some team names much worse than the Minnesota Twins. The Buffalo Bills come to mind...

Me too. I love their uniforms, and I am glad they got a new stadium. They deserve to stay in Minnesota.
Other than that, I hate the Twins with every fiber of my being. I hate every one of their players, I hate their coach, I hate their owner, I hate their piece of **** stadium, I hate their incessant whining, I hate the little moshpit they do at 2B after a win.
