Apparently Maroth isn't ready to go yet, so they're giving Ledezma a start this week and calling up Andrew Miller to take his spot in the bullpen. Just a few months ago he was in the College World Series, and now he might be facing the Yankees in his debut. sheesh

Leyland says it's doubtful Maroth returns to the rotation again this year.

You wouldn't cheer for him were he on the Sox because he played for UNC?
Ummm...okay. Did you spend the last 15 years booing BJ Surhoff?

That was a joke.
But he does play for Detroit.

Calling up a kid the last few days of the season for some games that have no bearing on the race..okay, maybe not a bad idea. Sticking a guy just out of college in the middle of a major league pennant race...hmmm.

Let's face it, if there's a "next Neal Cotts" in 2007, it's going to be Jamie Walker.
Obviously, Miller's future lies as a starter, but I think it will end up being a net positive for the organization. I could be wrong, but I don't think they would put him in any clutch situations unless he shows he's ready for a couple of weeks of mop-up/middle relief work.
Then again, if Walker continues to struggle, he could be pushed right into the middle of the race coming down the stretch.

Congrats to him getting called up so fast, hopefully though teams will get to him whenever he gets in.
