I've heard a ton of criticism toward the t.v announcers lately so i decided to make a poll. What announcers do you like better? T.V or Radio?
Me personally i love the T.V announcers.

I've always liked the old Hawkeroo except when he gets on the subject of Sudden Sam Macdowell, Kaline, Yaz or Alvin Dark. We've heard 'em all Ken.
Hawk lives and dies by the White Sox, DJ however brings nothing. He's supposed to be a baseball analyst and all he does os read notes and make idiotic observations. By the way, where was DJ last year when the WS parade was going on? He's a nice guy it seems, but I could think of other people I'd rather see in the booth with Hawk.

EASILY Farmer and Singleton.

I used to hate listening to Farmer and Singleton. However, I think Singleton just had to get used to announcing, and now they're not bad. I'd still rather listen to Hawk and DJ though--it spices up the game.

He talks in a monotone, does Ed Farmer. Can he improve that? I don't think so. Singleton is not bad on color but is still brutal doing PBP.

Hawk & DJ are still better.

This statement is only true if it is in teal.

EASILY Farmer and Singleton.

Right on, these two have really put it together this season to become an enjoyable team.

Hawk is about 7 years past his prime. Get on back there? *** is that?

Hawk Harrelson and Ed Farmer doing TV, that's about the only thing I'd enjoy.

Otherwise, its all Sportsline Gamecenter for me...

Farmer is brutal doing PBP. Singleton is actually not that bad of a color man.

I look forward to national telecasts.

Personally, I like Farmer and Singleton, but I definitely don't hate Hawk and DJ, they're just boring sometimes. I like it when Farmer and Singleton talk about spiders in the booth and little things like that. They make listening to the game more fun (especially when they're losing).:D:

I am with you, sort of. I like Farmer but not as the play-by-play guy. Hawk is just a cranky old dude in the booth these days. DJ is actually better without Hawk but not as the PBP guy. On the national games he is good. Singleton just plain stinks.

Do you mean to say that you like Buck/McCarver better than the local guys? Are you deaf by chance?

I would say that 90% of the broadcasters out there suck, but to put yourself out there with a statement like that...well, that's just bold.

Hawk & DJ, hands down. I love hearing Hawk get all excited..I swear one of these days that man is going to have a heart attack right there in the booth.

ouch daver...they're all four of them brutal, but this going a little too far. Jon Miller is the only person likely to cover a national Sox game that doesn't make me feel like gouging my ears out

I like Jon Miller. He's unbiased, professional, good voice, likeable. For national, you can't ask for much more...at least considering the alternatives around the national circuit.

Farmer was good or at least OK matched with Rooney. As a PBP guy he can be a cure for insomnia. Singleton is just brutal, and that's an improvement over earlier in the year when he was so bad he defied adjectives. Farmer and Singleton as a team are a D- at best. Hawk is Hawk. You like him or you don't. Hawk and DJ never meshed IMHO like Hawk and Wimpy, despite whatever feud they might or might not have had. When DJ works a game minus Hawk he seems like a different announcer. The Golden Age of Baseball Radio has come and gone. It wasn't so long ago that my wife and I would drive to Detroit for a game, which would mean having the pleasure of listening to Ernie Harwell in the car. I'm just glad I got to listen to some great baseball announcers and I'm real sorry that the bar has come down so low today.

I think any impartial national broadcaster could've made as enthusiastic of a call as Rooney did.

The most annoying thing about both broadcasts is the role reversal innings. Singleton and DJ CANNOT do play-by-play. However, I'd rather listen to loud static than listen to Buck, McCarver, Berman, or Morgan.

I've always liked the Hawk. There is absolutely no question he's a Sox fan and his schtick for some reason still doesn't grate on me. DJ is slowly coming along as a color guy, although he has never meshed very well with Harrelson.

Farmio is just brutal as a PBP guy, and sometimes Singleton can't get a word in edgeways. Thy're hard to listen to.

Yes, there are better MLB announcers than Harrelson out there, but I'll take his passion for the Sox any time.

Joe Buck is a member of the silver spoon club (he got in because of his daddy), McCarver has finally managed to out-John Madden John Madden, Berman is an East Coast homer (remember what he said after the Sox swept Boston? "The Red Sox dream to repeat is over." No credit at all to the White Sox.), Miller induces narcolepsy and when I'm exposed to Morgan, I suffer from narcissism by osmosis.

I think that Jack McDowell was going to be their first choice as color man instead of Singleton, but Chris is getting better as he gets more comfortable behind the microphone.

I would say that 90% of the broadcasters out there suck, but to put yourself out there with a statement like that...well, that's just bold.McCarver is the only analyst I hate more than DJ.The only time DJ is bearable to listen to is when he's discussing the fundamentals of the game. He has absolutely no clue about Sox history or tradition, therefore diehard fans like me hate when he reads the AFLAC trivia question and has no clue what he just read.DJ strikes me as thekind of guy who's a borderline baseball fan at best. Why can't they get a partner for Hawk who can relate to White Sox fans like Bert Blyleven in Minnesota connects with Twins fans.

I don't listen to the radio as much, but I'd still pick Hawk and DJ. No other announcing duo in baseball is quite like them.

On TV, I still like Hawk. He cares and he has emotion in his voice. When Crede hit the home run last season off Riske, just hearing Hawk's "Jooooeee Crrreeeddddeee!" gave and still gives me goose bumps. He gives a damn about my favorite team and that wins major points in my book.

As for DJ, he's an ex-player. Tell me, the fan who loves baseball, what the hell it's like to be out there on the field. Don't rely on lame-ass cliches like "thought process" and "he's gonna go ahead and...". My brother never noticed how many times DJ says, "He's gonna go ahead and..." and now it irritates the hell out of him, too.

For the love of God, you played in the big leagues; convey that knowledge and experience to the fans.

And when DJ has to do PBP by himself, it's time to go to the john or grab a Diet Pepsi out of the fridge. It might help if Hawk were in the booth with him, but he must be out grabbing a plate of food from the Bertucci Boys in the Patio area. DJ must not and cannot do PBP solo.

As for Singleton, I think he's improving. He's not as wooden or cliche-riddled as DJ. In time, he could be a good color man. As a PBP guy, however, he needs a lot of improvement.

As for Farmer, good color guy, mediocre PBP guy. His dull monotone and seemingly nonchalant style are vastly different from Rooney. I know Rooney and Rowand aren't coming back, but Farmer is boring as hell at times to listen to. It doesn't help that when you see him at the game broadcasting, he's sitting with his head against the wall like he's having a hard time remaining conscious.

"Here's Konerko, he's got 30 home runs on the season and if he hits one next Tuesday, he'll have 31. If he hits one after that, he'll have 32."

Thanks, Ed.

There is no good choice since Rooney & Farmer were broke up.
Hawk is slipping and can be embarrassing to listen to,but he is loved by a lot of the other announcers around baseball, but thats neither here nor there.
All you have to do is listen to a team like Dan Schulman & Steve Stone(when they work together)and you will hear how good it could be if you get the right combination of knowledgable and articulate guys who not only love what they do but are really good at it also.

I agree, I just wish Farmer would shut up sometimes. Let Singleton finish a statement without chiming in. We do not need to hear his voice every minute.

TV guys.

Even when Rooney was on the Radio, it was annoying to be in a car for five minutes, having worked until closing time at the mall, and not hear a score. Just this past week, Farmer and Singleton went to a commerical during a pitching change and failed to give a score.
