Liíl Wally is a long time favorite of our family and was also a big influence on other family favorites, Eddie Blazonczyk and Marion Lush.

So you're saying that 'Capt. Stubby & The Buccaneer's as credited on the song was really Lil' Wally?

Actually, Lil' Wally was just the writer. Captain Stubby (Tom Fouts) was just the singer. Lil' Wally was not Captain Stubby.
Either way, R.I.P. Wally.
We're with you all the wayyyy...:(:

My grandfather, a HUGE Polka fan, will be buying him a beer in heaven.

I remember Lil Wally and many Polka greats riding around with my Grandfather as a kid on the great Polish AM station.

Thanks for the memories!!!

According to Lil' Wally..

In Heaven there is no beer
(No beer?!)
That's why we drink it here
And when we're all gone from here
Our friends will be drinking all the beer.

RIP Wally..you were the best!

Depending on whether or not there IS beer in heaven. Would that station have been WOPA in Oak Park?

Thanks for posting this. I grew up hearing his 45's on my Dad's record player in our basement (a recreation of his favorite tavern). I had no idea Wally was a one man operation from writing to recording and even priinting and distributing the records himself! To hear a tribute to his music go to: http://www.stringhill.com/ Thursday at 7PM.
