Would you consider this road trip a success if we take 3 of 4 from Detroit, despite losing 2 to the Twins?

I would have to say yes. If we take 3, that puts the Tigers at 2-6 on their homestand and probably sets off a widespread panic.

Absolutely..then we have Radke, Santana, Silva back at the Cell.

Absolutely. Having a winning road trip against contenders is always big.

Yes I guess. But the games with the Twins are more important since we are far more likely to enter the playoffs as a Wild Card. This weekend at the Cell vs the Twins is more important than this series in Detroit.

I would have to say yes. If we take 3, that puts the Tigers at 2-6 on their homestand and probably sets off a widespread panic.Given the way the Twins play at home and that they faced Santana on Sunday, who almost never loses at home, 2 out of 3 in the baggie-dome isn't a major disappointment (although Friday's game was winnable if Garcia had gotten his head out of his ass). Splitting four with KC last week was a much bigger disappointment.

But what's done is done. I think that given the situation and the fact that time's running out, they can't afford to leave Detroit no better off than they came in, and that means winning 3 of 4 is pretty high on the priority list.

If they get two in Detroit, the Sox are still ok. The key the rest of the way is not to have a bad week (see Red Sox). Get two in Detroit, and two against Minnesota, and they've survived another week. Then put the clamp down on Tampa and KC next week, and we're sitting pretty going into Boston.

3 out of 4 would be a fabulous end to the road trip. Sox would only be 3.5 back with over a month to play.

3 of 4 would be satisfactory; 4 of 4 would be successful.

3 out of 4 would be good, but it's also necessary. A split really doesn't do the Sox much good. 4 out of 4 would be phenomenal.

As long as we win 3 it was a success. We got our one game minimum in the dome, which we'll take considering their huge advantage at home and the fact that we ran into Santana (yet again).

Detroit made the last week not a disaster by sucking worse than we did. Last weekend, we swept them to make it a legit race again and this time we have a chance to make it interesting with 3/4. If we win, it strengthens the notion that we own them and demoralizes them further. If we sweep, I think the divsion is ours. It would be admirable for a young team like them to recover from that. We'd be 13-3 head to head. :mg:

Definitely. You won't make as much ground as sweeping but you won't lose your ass either (pardon the expression). :D:

When this whole 10 game stand with the Twins/Tigers/Twins started I was thinking that taking 6 of those 10 would be a good weeks work. I'm still hoping that at least 6 wins are in store for those 10 games. I'm guessing to reach that mark we'll need to take 3 of 4 from the Tigerse. It's doable. Just has to be done on the field. Go Sox!!!

4 out of 4 is a pipedream. Possible, but still a pipedream.

We both know perfectly well that the Sox are the best team in the majors. And cream always rises to the top.

I don't know how many of you guys saw the movie "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," but if you did, the last couple of lines in the movie seem very appropriate here.

"Ready?"
"Then let's go get 'em!"

As long as the wins are greater than the losses, its a success

Yes, if the Sox take three of four in Murder City, I will be delighted.

Losing 2 out of 3 in Minny would not have been that big of a deal if the Sox had been able to win 2 out of 3 the last time the Twins played at the Cell.

I'm really getting sick of the Twins and am so ready for the Sox to destroy and demoralize the Twins after they rough up the Tigers this week.

If the Sox could take 3 of 4 from Detroit, they would be within 3.5 games of the Tigers with five weeks to play. Making up that deficit is VERY doable. So 3 out of 4 would make it a "successful" trip after all. Of course, a sweep puts them within 1.5 games, a even better scenario indeed!

At this point considering they are 1-3 on the biggest road trip of the season, I'd be happy winning 2 of the next 3.

2 out of 3 in Detroit from here, 2 out of 3 from Minnesota, sweep Tampa (no Kazmir), and take 2 of 3 from KC. 9-3 the next 12, and they go into Boston 82-54. I'll take that with 26 games left.

What's clear as day is they need to get on a streak now if they want to make the playoffs. There is no time to slump anymore. Ask the Red Sox.

3/4 is only satisfactory on the road against the team with the best record in baseball?????:kukoo:

3 of 4 is a requirement now if they want to make the playoffs. I would not be satisfied with it but it is my only choice. These pitchers need to get their heads out of their butts and pitch like they can. And so much for Freddy being a big game pitcher. He crapped his pants the other day.

We have to get three out of four, if we split or worse, things start to ger very desperate IMHO.

Forget the sweep... Gotta make it 3/4 and give the Tiggers something to worry about. I just don't see it happening. Our pitching is crap now.
