Neifi Perez traded to Tigers, per cubs game announcers.

Obviously they needed another middle infielder. Big drop-off from Polanco, though.

Congrats to the Tigers on winning the AL Central.

Cubs making it tougher on themselves to win the division, unless they got something spectacular in return...

LMAO at the Tigers. I hope they start Neifi because he just plain sucks.

Neifi? Damn, Omar Infante would've been better. Ah, somebody actually wanted him, besides Dusty. :redneck

You can look at this two ways:

1)Tigers are running a little scared and make a move to make a move.

2)Stinking Cubs are trying to help a White Sox rival win.

Number two makes a little more sense, they hate the Sox about as much as we hate the Cubs.

Either way, I don't see Perez helping the Tigers too much. He does pretty much blow chuncks. Let's see; no hit, no field, not too fast. Sign him quick!
Plus he comes from that winning tradition on the North Side. LOL

And the good news is (for us), Neifi's under contract for next year too!

Detroit is stuck with Neifi unless they eat the silly deal that Hendry gave him.

Horrible ex-Cub factor!

Detroit is doomed.

You seem to have missed the third and obvious answer, Hendry is tired of watching Dusty play Perez in front of Izturis and Cedeno and Detroit was desperate for a back-up middle infielder.

I take it the Sox are conceding the division to the Tigers by not claiming him off waivers?

Horrible ex-Cub factor!

Detroit is doomed.Having seen Neifi play, I'd remove the teal if I were you. Did you see him make not one, but TWO errors on a single play a couple of months ago? He sucks. I mean he isn't even good enough to play on the Cubs. (He only gets playing time because Dusty is a moron.)

Hot Damn! I was just lurking over on motownsports and saw a couple of very similar posts.

BTW, during my brief sojourn into enemy territory, I saw very little--well, nothing--that seemed to indicate that Tigger fans thought this trade brought them the key piece of the puzzle.

See ya tomorrow, Oblong! Lookin' forward to it!

Didn't Perez have a great game or two this season against the Sox?

Shows how much Hendry thinks of Dusty; considering Perez was about his favorite.

If Perez gets considerable playing time over Omar Infante then you guys might find one more fan on the White Sox bandwagon.

I do believe that they are just trying to upgrade the bench though, and I'm not sure Ramon santiago could hit the floor if he fell out of bed.

Nope. He will likely replace Ramon Santiago. There is no difference between the two.

I'm not going to get to make it to any of the games this week. I'm really bummed about that.

Hey, Tiger23! Good to see you back! (Seriously)

I was hanging over at the Tigers site, and I was impressed with how the fans over there get it about Perez. However, I got the distinct impression that they--for the most part--were not exactly looking forward to this series, whereas we--for the most part--seem to be.

In any event, it should be interesting.

Any truth to the rumor that Dusty is openly campaigning to take Leyland's job next year?

Oh, tell me he isn't.

Leyland would essentially have to be convicted of genocide to be run out of Detroit right now.

Even then, they might let it slide. :D:

It's hard to talk smack when the team is 3-9 against them.

A Chicago sweep or a series win 3-1 would do serious damage, not just for the obvious reasons of getting 2 games closer but the team is also in a 3-12 slump.

But a split would be kind of boring, no?

Because the Cubs would have probably let him go. Then we'd be stuck with him...
