Maybe the "real" Ozzie is coming back to life again? Let's hope so.

If this article is true and not taken out of context, I say........

Definitely agree with you. It's just seemed that since that episode with Mariotti that Ozzie has taken a back seat and stayed out of the spot light (could that be the sensitivity training kicking in?) Ozzie is by far the leader of this team, and the leader hasn't been acting himself lately and therefore his team hasn't been acting themselves lately....seems to be a connection there...Well, we definitely need Ozzie down the stretch here as well as performances like tonight from JG.

Garland is really coming on strong. He still has about 8 more starts to go, conceivably, he could get to 20 even. Amazing.

Don't count on many Cy Young votes w/ an ERA over 4.00 though, unless you pitch for Boston or NY.

Contreras and Buehrle would have to be the other two starters, although Buehrle has some work to do to get back to "normal" and Vazquez has the stuff to be a 3 starter if he would stop thinking so much and worry about making good pitches instead of bad luck.

I'm done with Garcia.

White Sox home OPS: .818
White Sox away OPS: .817

If they're stealing signs, it's the good old fashioned way.

Minnesota home OPS: .815
Away: .742

Boston home: .849
Away: .798

Yankees home: .830
Away: .803

Cardinals home: .763
Away: .780

Toronto home: .869
Away: .774

Mets home: .763
Away: .800

So...one would imagine most teams would do better at home, but the White Sox aren't really any different. Maybe the Cardinals need to start stealing signs.

Incidentally, the biggest disparity seems to be KC's. I assume that's because their mostly young team is especially uncomfortable on the road.

holy nuts, those quotes are right up there with some of his best, especially the anderson/uribe comment. that guy is hillarious.

Good stuff here. Let's recap:

The Red Sox owner doesn't know what a field looks like. Mark Mulder sucks. The NL central sucks. If the Sox are cheaters, then how is it that Anderson and Uribe struggle?

and as for Garcia, I'm so done with him as a Sox fan. Every time the Sox give him a lead, he blows it. He throws so many damn pitches, he takes forever, he paces around the mound after every pitch, he shows up his teammates if anyone makes a mistake, he walks a guy and it becomes an instant double. It's so frustrating to watch as a baseball fan and as a Sox fan.

"Well, when you give up five runs, it's a funny thing," Guillen said. "Players can say whatever they want to say because it's their right, but we gave the lead to Freddy a couple of times, and they tied the games a couple of times.

"Sometimes people should blame themselves when things happen."

Well said, Ozzie. Well said.

:garcia:

"Accountability? What's that???"

I can't wait for all the Cardinals fans to get POed at Ozzie again.

Wonder if they've seen the quotes? There go the Buehrle/Mulder exchange ideas, lol. At least no mention of Rick Ankiel, Jason Marquis or Timo Perez in there Ozzeroo. And they didn't get him to say he would take Konerko or Thome over Pujols!

Whew-- I guess the sensitivity training has worn off at last! The "if I can't say anything nice, I won't say anything" Ozzie seems to have left the building, and I for one am pleased to see that.

I hope that behind closed doors he laid some of that frankness and forthrightness on Freddy Garcia.

It's practically September and Ozzie is feeling it:bandance: .

This man is crazy like a fox and just watch him and the Sox catch Detroit.:bandance:

He'll slap Freddy around and Freddy will turn it on in the playoffs. Just watch.

The key thing is his comments about Garcia. If there was ever a guy who needed a kick in the ass, it's that guy.

It's about time Ozzie spoke up! I was getting fed up with him not responding in Ozzie like fashion. As far as Freddy... I haven't missed a game all year, be it on t.v or radio, but I've said for the remainder of the year I am not going to watch the sox when Freddy is pitching. He seems to not want to give the effort to win games and blames other players... I'm not going to watch him! I've got better things to do in my life, I'd much rather spend some time with my 18month old girl... then let Freddy get me upset for the evening! Boy wouldn't it be great if we could send a message to the sox and the next time Freddy pitches at home, nobody shows up! We all picket outside the stadium for a player that cares about winning to play!

I love the good ole Ozzie. Speaking his mind and pretty much telling the truth. That rant about the NL and NL Central specifically was pretty awesome, as was the comment on Mulder. Funny stuff and very true stuff. Now lets go win this rubbermatch.

Guillen said Cardinals left-hander Mark Mulder "wouldn't even make our team. He couldn't start for us, and he's not better than [Neal] Cotts or [Matt] Thornton in our bullpen.

YES!!!!!!!! Ozzie Rules!!!

It's nice to see the real Oz back, not the "sensitivity trained" zombie who took his place for a while.

I just hope Freddy gets the message. Watch the playoff/world series tapes - that's a much more focused pitcher than what we have now. Great job Ozzie for calling him out like that!

Bill Simmons of ESPN Page 2 had this to say on Ozzie in his recent column, funny stuff!

(By the way, if you were covering the White Sox, wouldn't you make it your goal to keep asking Ozzie Guillen questions that could lead him to possibly giving loony answers? For instance, if I were covering the White Sox for the Sun-Times this summer, I would have repeatedly asked Ozzie for his opinion on the following things: tennis bras, "Brokeback Mountain," vasectomies, UFOs, Barbaro, menstrual cycles, dinosaurs, blogs, Suri Cruise, decaffeinated coffee, "Scarface," Celine Dion, breast-feeding in public, Ugueth Urbina, the plight of homeless people in Chicago, hybrid cars, steroids, movie theaters that still show X-rated movies, NASCAR, pro wrestling and Viagra. I would have worn him down, day after day, and gotten his take on every one of those things. This is probably why I never made it in the newspaper business.)

that Sun-Times article is pure gold.

''Then they have a Mexican win the World Series in two years. And they're saying he doesn't have experience, he never managed in baseball before. Well, too [expletive] bad.''
When reminded that he is Venezuelan and not Mexican, Guillen paused. ''What's the difference?'' he said, laughing. ''No one knows the difference anyway.''

:roflmao:

I hope everything is deep under Ozzie's skin right now...the media, other managers/players, the schizophrenic play of his team... I hope Ozzie's losing sleep and getting sick in his office like he was last year.
Only good things can happen when you piss off Ozzie Guillen.

"They're mad. They can't admit that a Latino kicked their ass.''

Poor Ozzie. Nobody likes him just because he's a Latino. Give me a break.

I like Ozzie and although I disagree with him from time to time I think he's a good manager and I'm glad he's managing the Sox. But this kind of crap gets old fast.

Then, in an Aug. 10 article in the Boston Globe, Red Sox owner John Henry said he wondered if the Sox were stealing signs against the New York Yankees in their series two weeks ago.

I don't think the Sox have ever stolen signs (that's bush league, IMHO); but, I sure wouldn't complain if a team was performing this act to defeat my arch-rival.

Oh come on. The best sign-stealer in history used to be the Sox bench coach.

Are you talking about a guy on the bench stealing signs from the other bench or the use of lights in the scoreboard or say something, like, I don't know, reversing the direction in which the fans blow depending on who's at bat (not that any team would do that)?

Well it's nice that Ozzie at least for a little while has returned to his old self but instead of blasting Dave Duncan or Mark Mulder or John Henry wouldn't the Sox be better served if Ozzie went off in the clubhouse against guys who've suddenly forget how to bunt, steal a base or advance a man to third base with less then two outs?

I have no doubt that a pissed off Ozzie Guillen has plenty of rage to spend, so that he is quite capable of blistering his players and still having a lot left over to fill reporter notebooks.
