about the Cubs.

They've now lost 8 of 9 at Wrigley.

Makes our struggles with KC and Cleveland pale in comparison.

I liked La Russa's comment yesterday: "This was the first time I've seen the bottom of the ninth in this town" after the Cards finally won. Remember, the Sox swept them at USCF as well.

Im sure they dont care cuz they still wont lose their spot in the central. Theyve hit 2 8-game losing streaks and STILL kept the lead this season

Well, I'm sure they feel with the NL Central so mediocre this year; they should have a huge lead and thus be getting ready for the playoffs. Instead, nothing is guaranteed. The National League is really a mess this year. :o:

I'm sure that they care that they can't win here, but it doesn't really matter. They are going to the playoffs, and the cubs, well, they are going where they always go in October, wherever that is.

My sister lives downstate, where it is mostly Cubs and Cardinals fans. She says the Cardinal fans are getting massive amounts of **** from Cubs fans about the season series between the two teams. I'm sure the St. Louis fans aren't happy about it. There are few things worse on this earth than having Cubs fans wagging their fingers in your face and taunting.

Fortunately for my sister, she's a diehard Sox fan like all of us. The Cubs fans don't want to talk about baseball with her this year. :D:

Cards are my 2nd fave team, but they suck this year, and are still in first place. Who's the Comedy Central now?

I know they can't feel too good about it. The only thing they can take solace in is that they'll be in the playoffs, and the Cubs won't. I don't think the Cards will last past the first round of the playoffs, though.

Normally I'd agree. But the way the NL is this year I think they can get to the second round, unless they play the Mets in the NLDS.

I was going to say the same thing, except replace Mets with Dodgers. The Mets have Pedro (maybe?) and Glavine, who's season thusfar has been a fluke, and will get rocked in the playoffs. After that, you get the immortal Steve Traschel and other bad pitchers. I think the Mets' pitching is going to catch up to them (not that the Cardinals' staff is any better).
