About a month ago there was a thread on worst comic strip and Family Circus got plenty of votes. If there was any doubt todays comic should clinch it

No, it was published this morning. It just seems 20 years old.

Kind of humorous if you ask me. Today's little Cubs fan goes to the game to buy chewing gum, tomorrow's little Cubs fan goes to buy beer...neither actually cares about baseball!

Is this comment supposed to be funny? I don't read "Family Circus," but this makes no sense to me.

What is the appeal of the comic as a whole.

Family Circus has been around forever. I think it's basically supposed to be a comic strip about the "cute" things kids say. I don't have kids, but if I did, I would hope to God they were smarter than the kids in that strip.

It would have been funnier if the kid would have wanted "chewin' tobacco."

It has been around forever, and it should have been euthanized at least 30 years ago. Ugh.

Just for kicks, I took one last look at this week's newspapers before consigning them to the recycling bin to see the actual comic strip. It seems the Family Circus family went on vacation to Chicago this week, setting the stage for many weak gags (the kid says he's thirsty when they visit the Water Tower, and wishes he had his kite with him when he hears Chicago is the 'windy city'). By comparison, the bit about wanting chewing gum at Wrigley Field is almost clever.

Personally, this strip is just a bit too lame for anyone to seriously waste time having any feelings for, particularly hatred.

Put that comic on a t-shirt with no additional commentary, and you have the best anti-Cub shirt ever.

This strip is about about a family of spazz'. What better place for them to spend an afternoon than Wrigley Field. I see it as dark comedy and the writer cleverly matches the family of dweebs with the Cubs.....or Cub fans are dweebs.

That's the first time I read that strip and actually laughed...it was funny.

The Family Circus has just elevated a notch in my book.

I believe it - you just don't see big families like that one at Wrigley anymore. A family of 6 would stand out like a sore thumb amongst all the college kids there.

Ha! Because Wrigley is the name of the ballpark as well as the company that makes gum! Oh, what wit! What sublime humor! I think I made a little tinkle in my pants! With naught but pen and paper this cartoonist has reduced me to a guffawing baboon!
