How far did it go? I was at the game and I didn't catch it on the scoreboard, does anyone know the distance?

The board said 434 feet.

I thought I saw it announced at 434 feet. I thought it went further, but that's what was posted.

I've been sitting in 158 since 2001 and that's the longest shot I've seen down the line. 434 does sound about right.

I concur with the 434 distance. In fact, I believe he tied Iguchi for the 4th longest shot this year.

Hey nice I was at the game, too... and when he hit that I just stood up and was like WOW.

He really hammered that thing.

I've been in 163 since 1997 and that's the furthest I have ever seen as well. I thought more like 450 though.

I was standing on the concourse for the ARod homer in 2000 that bounced off the back wall on one hop. I missed catching it by about five feet. I don't think Dye's quite went as far.

The folks on this board do come up with some witty posts.

I was in the upper deck - 537 I think. I thought it hit that support underneath fundamentals. Awesome shot.
BTW, for the first time at the park in 12 years, it's awesome. I was in 324 on Monday's game, and 537 yesterday. I'm 2-0, sorry I couldn't make it to tuesday or wednesday, they could have used me in attendance

give me a decription (seat location, section, trajectory) and ill give you the distance.
Bless those guys in the press area, but it is hard to see where those things land. i've sat there for BP with that sole purpose and even with two people we had trouble seeing where it lands. The contour map they use for home run distances was updated in 2003, and that's why the distances appear smaller. The old one was difficult to read.

I game I remember well. It was seemingly the most humid, uncomfortable day in Chicago history. A baseball was just begging to be hit 500 feet that day.

It figures that the only time I wasn't watching the game yesterday was when JD sends a bomb to the concourse. Stupid inbetween time from the tv to the car ruins everything.

Who's got the longest this year?

Who's got the longest this year?

I'm pretty sure its Thome. I want to say it was something like 490 ft.

Who's got the longest this year?According to this site (http://www.hittrackeronline.com/top_standard_distance.php), Thome's bomb on opening night went 464 feet. He has two longer shots this year, but both were on the road.

Oh right, I'm assuming that was the one vs. the Pirates?

Where did Borch's 500+ blast land anyway? Anyone recall?

Right field concourse, about halfway back.

Incidentally, Borchard's 504-foot home run broke the U.S. Cellular Field record, which had previously been held by Frank Thomas.

Thomas's 495-foot home run came on 7/23/2002 off of...

(drum roll)

...Johan Santana!

Right field concourse, about halfway back.Somewhat surprisingly, the White Sox "top plays" video archive doesn't have a clip of it.

I know. I was looking for it earlier this season. It was there last season, IIRC.

His upper deck shot in Cincy was awesome to have witnessed. Hope he qualifies for the Home Run Derby next year after have been there once.

Ironically, it was against Jim Thome's Phillies in a daytime makeup game with maybe 5,000 in attendence. Thome's Peoria charitable foundation had an outing that day and, as I recall, it wasn't one of his better days.

Might have been a roof shot at the old park.

I miss roof shots. :(:

I must have not been at that game or given my tickets away or something because I don't remember that. I was there for Borchard's though. That was nuts.

Dufuses Mike and Murray on Sirius radio were debating who should get the MVP this morning . . . . the debate was between Ortiz and Jeter! Dye is the MVP if it isn't Ortiz, but Jeter. He's having a good year, but come on. If Jeter were on the Sox and Dye on the Yankees Dye would have it wrapped up.

***.

But you're forgetting Jeter has been so clutch his entire career!
