Basically, Page 2 on ESPN wrote an article about how Manny is the most "under the radar" superstar in the league and talks about while he has less HR, he has a higher obp and slugging % than Ortiz. They talk about how while Manny shouldn't necesarily be the mvp, he should at least be on the ballot

Seriously, how is Manny Ramirez under the radar?

Edit: Forgot to add that Dye has a higher slugging % than Manny (in fact he's #1 in the league), and a slightly lower obp with the same number of HRs. Being that he hits #5 though, SLG is much more important for Dye (and Manny) than OBP. Oh, also, he knows how to play defense.

Do you really think the Eastern Seaboard Propaganda Network is going to say that Dye is under the radar? No way. Its NY/Boston 24-7 with this network. It has been for years.

I'll take Jermaine being Jermaine over Manny being Manny any day of the week.

Wasn't it Dye that was sitting at the bar in the Ritz in New York saying that he wanted to be traded to the Yankees?

The ESPN radar only picks up two teams.

Manny Ra.... Who? Never heard of him.

The man makes 20+ million a year... you can't be under the radar when you're the 2nd highest paid player EVER!

Zing!

I can't believe people still check out their website and watch their shows to see what they have to say.

What's the point?

I was on si.com when I came across this article touting a fogotten A.L. MVP canidate. I was expecing it to be Jermaine, but instead found this bum : http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/john_donovan/08/18/al.mvp/index.html

By the way does anybody know by chance when the next Boston/New York series is ?

The 5-game Yankees/Red Sox series starts today, and the ESPN guys could not be more excited for the World Series. In fact, they won't be more excited for the World Series.

Any time a Boston player bends down to get a ground ball, it's a Web Gem. But Joe Crede -- who he? :redneck

It's like an alternate reality. I'm sure glad I don't live in it.

I like how the article says that the MVP should be either a Yankee or BloSox player.

I like how the article says that the MVP should be either a Yankee or BloSox player.Yeah.. players on the teams of the second best division in the AL... yup makes sense... seriously.. can they move Boston to the NL so we'd only have to hear about this crap once every 3 years?

I wanted to Hijack the thread at this point and Ask, If Liriano hadn't gotten injurred I think that he probably would have won the Cy Young and Rookie of the year, but I think that the arguement could have been made for MVP too... He had quite and effect on the Team and the Division for quite a few months... not to mention my fantasy team!

Eric Chavez is supposed to win the GG at thirdbase according to those guys. Or Lowell of course...

The problem is that ESPN's radar was made during WWII.

Its ok because at this rate, one of their 2 teams wont even make the playoffs. Oh dear god what will the nation do without both the Yankees and Red Sox in the playoffs!!!???

According to Kurkjian on Baseball Tonight, when the subject of who will win the Gold Glove at third base in the AL was mentioned, he responded "Eric Chavez" as though there were no other viable candidates.

I know the Sox play in Chicago and they ain't the Cubs, but for Kurkjian to react as he did, I mean, c'mon now.

Tim Kurkjian, Joe Crede. Joe Crede, Tim Kurkjian.

And as for Manny being under the radar, ain't no way. When Manny yawns while playing LF, ESPN analyzes it. And this weekend with the Blow Sox and Yankees playing a five-game series, oh Lord. I hope there's some preseason football on Sunday night.

Has Manny ever once mugged for the camera or played peek-a-boo with that little door in the green monster without it being shown on ESPN? Oh, yeah, maybe back when he was with Cleveland.

I think Justin Morneau should get a lot of consideration for MVP, hell he might be my pick right now.

Manny deserves the MVP award as much as the chance you will see Jim Thome endorse Vagisil.

Definitely. If the Twins make the playoffs, Morneau should be MVP. I just hope that doesn't happen.

If A-Rod makes no errors the rest of the season, he'll probably be an MVP candidate too.
