There are times like this that I'm quite certain the incompetence of people running MLB is nearly limitless.

BTW, Frank Crosetti was on manager Joe Schultz's 1969 Seattle Pilots coaching staff. Jim Bouton wrote about him in Ball Four . If you've never read the book, now is a good time to start. It's written in a diary format, starting in spring training and follows day by day through Bouton's entire season, first with the Pilots, later with the Astros, plus a stint with AAA Vancouver, too.

The most groundbreaking baseball book ever written, IMHO.
