You have got to be joking. Some people should just be smacked in the head with a 2 x 4 to get some sense knocked into them.

The guy's having an incredible season, let him enjoy it. I hope they find the mutt that wrote the letter and give him the max penalty.

Why would a Mets fan threaten one of the best hitters in the game right now over the derby? The Mets are in 1st place by 13 games. Why not enjoy the fact that your team, the Mets, could make it to the World Series?:?:

Maybe he was the fan that made an ass of himself at Yankee Stadium last August.

The scary thing is, he could mean it. Incredible how many crazies there are out there.

Let's just hope they catch this nutcase. Before he hurts anyone.

I'm glad there were no 'racial overtones' involved and it's great that Howard isn't going to be one of those players who runs and shouts racism when it isnt the case. Instead, he realizes the letter was just written by some jagbag and leaves it at that.

Howard seems like a great guy just happy to be playing the game and is fast becoming one of my favorite non-Sox players. I hope for his case that whoever wrote this is discovered, but something about this seems like the workings of some angry 12 year old somewhere. I mean who, other than some kid, cares about the home run derby anyway?

I wouldn't worry about it. Whoever wrote this is too stupid to inflict any damage upon anyone. I mean think about it, if you really wanted to inflict serious damage on someone else, especially someone in the public eye, why would you warn that person and the authorities ahead of time?

It just like those few people that everyone knows who are always trying to pick fights. What's the first thing they usually do when they get their wish? Run away. Whoever wrote this is just trying to get some sort of satisfaction at the thought of scaring a famous ballplayer. Personally I'd bet is was some kid who probably doesn't understand the seriousness of the situation.

Chances are it's just some dip**** who craves attention, but I guess you can never be too careful these days. Which brings up another point; I think the nutjobs in the world get far too much attention. Rational, responsible words and acts don't make for good press, so that gives the attention whores out there a chance to make a difference by acting outrageous or worse. Too bad.

This guy is a nut job, why would you threaten someone because they beat your star player in a Home Run Derby. Ryan Howard is my favorite non-Sox player. He's handled the situation with a lot of class and not really making it known and not making a big deal of it. He's right if the guy is writing threats like that he has more problems than Howard does.
