I was emailing my rep about other issues, and I casually mentioned that there were 31 flags on the replica trophies.
He first told me there were 31 on the real trophies, but got back to me and said that the real one dosent have 31 flags, and that the replicas do for legal reasons(maybe with mlb or tiffany's)

Hope this helps!

GeneThis sounds a little hokey to me. Does MLB have a trademark on the number 30? I'm not buying it.

It wouldn't be the number 30. Rather, it would be the design of the trophy.

It wouldn't be the number 30. Rather, it would be the design of the trophy.Adding a flag would not be enough to get around that. That would be considered an insignificant alteration. Otherwise, all you'd have to do would be to change the size of the flags slightly or point them in a different direction. If it's a substantially similar design, it would still be in violation. I don't buy it.

They should have had Baskin Robins sponsoring these things instead of DHL.

They should have had Baskin Robins sponsoring these things instead of DHL.what's this have to do with dhl? and for the record, the larger replica has NO sponsor...it's a gift to st holders

Im sure it was a joke because baskin robbins is famous for their 31 flavors, and the trophy had 31 flags...

And if they did, it's not clear why they would care less just because they added an extra flag.

Wait, are they suggesting that an MLB franchise (the Sox) can't get a license from MLB?!?
