In games where the sox score 0-3 runs
they are 5 wins 26 loses
scoring 4 or more runs 61 wins 19 loses
i find this unbelievable
Look at this List:
4-4 clev L8-2
4-5 clev L4-3
4-8 kc L 4-3
4-9 kc w 3-1
4-10 det L 5-3
4-24 sea L 4-3
4-29 LA w 2-1
5-2 clev L 7-1
5-7 kc w 3-2
5-12 min L 10-1
5-24 oak w 3-2
5-26 tor L 8-2
5-27 tor L 3-2
5-30 clev L 4-3
5-31 clev L 5-0
6-2 tex L 4-3
6-4 tex L 10-2
6-8 det L 6-2
6-22 sl W 1-0
7-3 blt L 8-1
7-7 bst L 7-2
7-15 NY L 14-3
7-19 det L 5-2
7-20 det L 2-1
7-21 tex L 10-3
7-22 tex L 3-1
7-25 min L 4-3
7-26 min L 5-3
8-2 kc L 7-3
8-6 tor L 7-3
8-7 LA L 6-3

0 runs 0-1
1 run 1-5
2 runs 1-7
3 runs 3-13

5-26 0-3 runs
so scoring 4 runs or more we are practically unbeatable.

0 runs 0-1

I can't believe we haven't won any games when we don't score any runs... You think we would win a few of those... Just Dumb Luck I guess.

I'd be interested in seeing how the rest of the league compares. It will always be skewed under .500. Not too many teams have winning records when they score one run (not to mention 0).

Where did you get this? Curious.

Winless in games we score zero...KW and Ozzie should be fired for that!

Any idea what the league average is for teams scoring 0-3 runs? It reminds me of those, 'So and so is 65-3 when leading going into the ninth inning,' ignoring that most teams have gaudy numbers when up at the begining of the ninth.

So the more runs you score, the better chance you have to win?

Brilliant!

Phil Rogers article in the Tribune today talked about this same topic.

"A year ago, these guys pitched so well that the Sox went 36-38 when they were supported by four runs or less. "

So they did win a lot more low scoring games last season.

I know the Sox are 1-0 when they score 20+ runs.

This definitely has everything to do with the much higher ERAs of our starting pitchers. You can't win many games if your pitching gives up too many runs regardless of how many runs you score.

I do wish we could scatter some of those 20 runs we scored in that one game against St. Louis across a few of those close losses.

That's just an incredible record for such contests. Our current 5-26 is a lot closer to the norm.

Not too many teams have winning records when they score one run (not to mention 0).The 4-21 record when the Sox score 2 or 3 runs is of concern though. That indicates that the Sox pitching and defense is simply not picking up the offense at all when they need it.

The fact that the offense has been shut out just once all season is astonishing, and the pitching/defense is letting them down.

in comparison the tigers are
16-27 in 0-3 run games
61-10 in scoring over 4 runs

tigers been shutout 4 times

27-8 when they score 4-6 runs
34-2 when scoring 7 or more

And we've lost probably 5 games (maybe more) when scoring 7 or more runs this season...can't quote on a game by game basis, but it's happened more than I would have believed possible at the start of this season.

The Sox have lost 8 times scoring 7 or more runs this season.

And the Sox improve to a mighty 69-0 when outscoring the opposition. A pretty telltale figure indeed.

Also I just realized, with the dismal 5-26 mark in games where they score 3 runs or less, I of all people, was at one of the wins. May 24 against Oakland, which completed a sweep. Kind of neat for me as I have notoriously bad luck at games. Well under .500 all time I'd say.
