Just saw it on ESPNEWS. The Reds are damn serious about making a run at the Wild Card.

And why not... winning the NL wildcard is like threading water. Sure in theory it can be tiring to try to stay hovering at .500 but it sure is easier than the breast stroke.

Did I use that metaphor just to sneak the word breast into my commentary? Odds are 1-5.

I thought this forum was called "Talking Baseball."

The NL doesn't count for "baseball."

The hell with the wild card, they want to catch the "Red Birds".

I thought you used it to sneak stroke in.

Hollandsworth is a pretty decent player - good pickup for the Reds.

The NL wild card is the ultimate wild card this year. Some very good teams won't be good enough to make the AL bracket of baseball's postseason tournament. Some teams who lose almost as much as they win have a great shot in the NL.

Getting to October means getting a chance at the World Series, where anything can happen. That would be big for any franchise. Considering the way things have been going for the Reds in recent years, it would be bigger for them.
