Less than a dozen sites remain in contention for a $325 million ballpark in Northern Virginia. The Maryland Stadium Authority, citing declining attendance and the increased cost of running Camden Yards will be unable again this coming fiscal year to make its required contribution to school construction.
The Authority is supposed to contribute $2.4 million annually for 10 years. They project a 21 percent decline in income from Orioles' rent and want the mandate repealed.
