View Full Version : Question for White Sox/baseball Historians

Have the Sox ever charged from behind to win the pennant/division? Seems like we've always jumped out to a lead '83, '93, '00 and '05 and coasted [except '05 of course]. Anyhow, if we put a run together and won the Central, wouldn't this be the first time we've ever made such a charge? Curious.

We did not jump off to a lead in 83. Sox were 8 games under .500 in mid May. By the end of July maybe 5 or 6 games over .500 if memory serves me. August and Sept the Sox were unbeatable.

Correct on 1983.
They also had to come from slightly behind in May, June and July of 1959.
And they were slightly off the lead at times throughout the first half of the 1993 season.

And of course it took a 19-game winning streak to win in 1906, but only I would have a first-hand memory of that. (Beat you to it Wilkes!)
