if PK ends up heading on to the DL who do you guys see being called up as a replacement? I don't think Thome's back problem will last (knock on wood) and I'm sure his wrist his fine (once again knock on wood), so who would the sox call up to replace pauly at first I doubt Ozzie would want to have gload starting at first for the next 2 weeks and I'm sure he doesn't want JD there either.

Call up Fields, he's earned it.

He's a 3B, unless you play Thome in the field and DH Fields, which I doubt they'd do. I would expect them in that situation to call up Rogo.

Why not? I'm sure Gload would be playing everyday no doubt.

I want to see Rogo up, see what he can do for a week. He's a year older than Fields, he deserves the first look.

Although Fields is a 3B, is apparently taking some outfield practice as that's his best chance to make the majors anytime soon. With the Sox at least. I fully expect the Sox to do all they can to keep Crede on the roster.

For most 3B the switch to 1B isn't that tough, but why start the clock ticking on Fields?

I think Fields will be a September callup, but not before then.

For most 3B the switch to 1B isn't that tough, but why start the clock ticking on Fields?Correct. Fields is not on the 40-man roster. Adding him to the roster to bring him up means they'd use up an option year when they sent him back down. That makes no sense. Any call up would almost certainly be someone already on the 40-man roster.

One possibility is Jerry Owens. He's hitting better of late and it might be worthwhile to get a look at him. The problem is, he's also a LH hitter, so he's not the ideal platoon for Pods.

Another possibility is a reliever. After Thursday they play 24 straight games, and the bullpen could get a little gassed.

Just as the past two said, no way Fields is the call-up. No point in wasting an option year for a 3-4 week look.

Sorry to beat the dead horse, but what about Hermanson? How is he doing, is even a viable option?

You both may be right. Hermanson's been looking good in his AAA rehab. I get the feeling that the Sox would like to wait until 9/ 1/06 to bring him back, but that 24 straight game stretch may force KW to bring Hermanson back in August.
