With PK and Thome likely out tomorrow, here is the lineup I would like to see (which I don't think is all that bad):

Pods - DH
Iguchi - 2B
Dye - RF
AJ - C
Crede - 3B
Rob - LF
Gload - 1B
Cintron/Uribe - SS
Anderson - CF

I would like to see alot of small ball and grinder goodness out of this lineup.

Well, that lineup does have some speed, solid hitting and still has some power. The Sox can win with that lineup if the pitching does it's job.

I would keep Pods in LF and move Mack to DH.

I'm sure Ozzie will put out a solid lineup tomorrow night.

What's the matter with Pablo lately? After his hamstring, he hasn't been himself either. If he's playing, I hope he gets it together soon, too.

I feel that Mack is a stronger defender than Pods in left. I think we could see some serious bunting, stealing and hitting & running tomorrow. We can certainly win with that lineup.

That's the way we'll need to play without Thome and PK. And I agree that Macko is a better OF than Pods. Put Rob in LF and DH Scott.

Ozzie would put AJ in the 3rd hole.... Im not saying I agree with it but thats what Ozzie will do.

A temporary call up of Fields would be nice, maybe send down someone that still has options left. If Thome or Konerko head to the DL they have to give him a call up, he's been tearing the cover off the ball.

It doesn't sound like either of these injuries will require DL time.

I would DH Pods. With Mack in LF he would be able to move to CF if Anderson needed to leave the game for whatever reason. If Pods was in left, and Mack DH, we would either have Pods in CF or lose our DH. I know this situation isn't likely but why risk it.

There's nothing wrong with Pablo. The law of averages finally caught up to him. He wasn't going to hit .430 for a full season. When he was on fire, either every spinner he hit found a hole or he legged out every dribbler to short. What's the saying, "water finds it's level?" Pablo will finish the year at around .320 -- which is fantastic; but translates to a second half batting average of about .260.

Where's Carl Everett? Did we not pick him up at the deadline this year?

If either Paulie or Thome need to go on the DL, Everett actually might be a good short-term pickup.

Throw AJ at the 3 spot as to provide an extra base runner for JD to clean up. With the way AJ has been hitting the ball, base hits in stead of HR's, AJ should be #3. Crede could even rock the 2 or 3 spot with his power surge of late along with him roping doubles into the gaps. This would allow Tadahito to move to the 5 or 6 spot allowing speed and power where Joe would normally provide.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

Carl Everett has nothing left except bad attitude. I would be much happier with any of our bench guys (Mack, Cintron, Gload or Ozuna) at DH if Thome goes down. At least they get on base (well, except for Ozuna lately :(:) and have some speed.

My guess is that Mack will DH. Nothing wrong with his hitting lately.

BTW, I like Dye batting third. He's the most likely guy to advance runners. When Pods or Gooch gets on, Dye can make things happen all kinds of ways.

No he's not. I think he's hitting near .220 since last year's AS break. Gload, Fields, Macowiak, and just about anyone could outproduce Carl, plus he'd throw a fit when they would have to cut him when Pauly and Thome come back.

If one of our guys goes on the DL I think we make a call to the farm and plug in one of our current reserves into a starting role.

At this point isn't everyone jumping the gun with the DL talk?

Thome himself said he doesn't think things are serious and regarding Konerko if he had a broken elbow or a chipped elbow the results would have been known long before Wednesday afternoon. They would have been readily apparent in the x-ray last night, no?

Try this on for size...

Podsednik DH
Mackowiak LF
Iguchi 2B
Dye RF
Pierzynski C
Crede 3B
Gload 1B
Uribe SS
Anderson CF

Mack has been hitting well and has stolen a couple bases and I have always had an inkling to put Gooch in the three spot....notice the lineup defensively too...

How bad would a Reggie Sanders waiver pick up be? Down the road he would be a nice hedge against further injury to one of our boppers. If it costs us Ozuna or Gload on the playoff roster, probably still worth it. We need to reach the playoffs before we worry about a roster spot though and, from my view, Sanders is a nice insurance policy.

I'd be all for a Reggie Sanders pick-up, but I don't think I'd swap out one of our bench players. Royals are going nowhere this year. How about some prospects and some cash?
