I was just listing to 670 and they are making kind of a big deal out of Buehrle being caught tonight by Sandy. They make it seem like Sandy is Buehrle's catcher. Maybe I'm wrong but I dont remember Alomar being the only one who caught Mark when he was with the Sox before. Well whatever the case it is time for Mark to pitch well and if he does not maybe give him a little rest (15 Day DL) and see what #55 can do in a few starts.

I know that Olivo didn't catch him. Olivo was Esteban's toadie. I think he caught Garland, as well.

This was already covered in the Tribune article from a few days ago. Alomar will not be his personal catcher. They're pretty much just trying this out to see if this will get Buehrle out of his funk.

I think he's referring to a McCarthy replacement.

Who cares as long as he throws unhittable strikes.

I agree with that but does Sandy really call a better game than AJ?

Because AJ calls pitches, but Alomar is capable of calling a game, it is not the same thing.

So what's the over/under on Alomar hits tonight??? 1??

When Mark was off to his 2-10 start in 2003, Alomar was on the DL. Alomar always caught Mark, and I felt they brought him back to help Mark get out of his funk. They probably won't say he is Mark's personal catcher, but don't be surprised if Alomar catches him from here on out. Daver knows much more about catching than I do. Have you ever seen a pitcher only wanting to have an exclusive guy be their catcher?

Does it really matter if A) Mark pitches like Mark and B) the 8 hitters before Sandy do what their supposed to?

AJ needs a break from catching at least once a week anyway, especially this summer.

I would think he calls a better game and hits better than Widger has this year.

Buehrle had his best season last year with AJ/Widger catching him. His struggles are 100% his fault.

What's your point? If it is mental, maybe the change of pace will do him some good.

I know that Maddux used to have Eddie Perez catch his games in Atlanta instead of Javy Lopez.
This talk radio bull**** is maddening, though. Did anyone mention that a lefty is going for the Royals tonight? Probably not, because it doesn't support their bull**** argument...

Probably not, because it doesn't support their bull**** argument...I'm pretty sure Sandy would be catching Mark tonight no matter who was pitching for the Royals. This isn't a knock on AJ. Sometimes a pitcher and a catcher just click. Maybe Mark is comfortable with Sandy because he caught him a lot when he was developing. Who knows? If it works, who cares why it worked?
