The start of a new month and a new set of historical doing's.

This month is highlighted by the longest wait in MLB history before declaring a game 'rained out,' Carlton Fisk's famous 'two for the price of one' play at home plate, two strange and bizarre plays versus the Orioles, the slowest catcher perhaps in MLB history getting an inside the park grand slam and Eddie Stanky with some choice words for then vice president Hubert Humphrey.

August 1, 1983- On a nationally televised ABC Monday Night Baseball game, Greg Luzinski drives a Ray Fontenot pitch over the left field roof at Comiskey Park. Itís ĎThe Bullísí second roof shot in 1983 and the first home run ever allowed by Fontenot. The Sox would win the game 4-1.

August 1, 2003- The Sox win their 8,000 game in franchise history as they bury the Mariners in Seattle 12-1. The Sox score seven runs in the first two innings primarily off future teammate Freddy Garcia.
