Proudly flying my White Flag today as its the anniversary of the infamous White Flag trade.

Flag them all I say. No untouchables on this current team. A list of players that are at peak value or on the downside slope of their career curve and still bring trade value in return include:

Burhle
Garcia
Vasquez
Riske
Contraras
Dye
Konerko
Pods
Alomar (sic)
AJ
Uribe
Ozuna
Mackowack
Gload

Move any or all to create a new starting staff.

The Sox are scrambling for a wild-card while falling towards third place in their own division. Deal players at peak or towards downside of career, retool based on strong starting pitching and move on. Plus if I ever see Mack O Wack in CF again I will throw up on my pipe and don a strait jacket.

If your refering to the 83 staff ,Seaver wasnt on it. Alot of times your posts make me giggle but this one is just downright stupid!!!!

I think he's referring to the '84 staff which had such high expectations, "strengthened an already strong rotation," "best staff in MLB"-- that sort of stuff--and then notoriously underperformed following up the big year in '83....kinda like our staff this year.

Regarding 84 staff and expectations and the 06 staff and its expectations.

This team reminds me more and more of 1984 every day. Both had solid everyday lineups and four stud pitchers who could exceed 200 innings pitched. Both team abject failures.

If you consider 19 games over .500 and 1/2 game out of the playoff hunt wtih 2 months to go I guess your right. Ill agree with 84 team being a bust finishing 14 games under .500 with absolutely no shot at the playoffs, but to compare them at this point is dumb. Let the team play out the season and when the Sox do make the playoffs I will be the first to tell you "I told you so"

The 06 Sox are going thru the worst stretch in the past five years. They are playing a crappy brand of baseball, poor baserunning, and starting pitching which is beyond crappy. Now the stellar relief corps is getting shakey.
Sure they could turn it around as they have an abundance of talent in this team. History, however says this team is on a downward spiral and they will have to retool for 07. I say do it now before its too late.

Minnie Me - White Sox fan through thick and.....well through thick only.

I guess after a world championship and 3 months of playing .667 baseball, all it took was a 3 week slump and for the Sox to fall a whopping 0.5 games behind playoff contention for you to wave a white flag. Wuss.

Our power was out last night, starting at 1:00 AM and ending at 7:30 AM. I woke up sweating :(:

Then we had five more "rolling" blackouts throughout the day. Not cool, mother nature. NOT COOL.
