Hey hey, August!

- Six games against Kansas City
- Three hosting the Yankees
- Seven against Detroit
- Six against Minnesota
- And amongst other things, a big FAT 11 game homestand in the middle of the month

If the Sox steam right through this month and play about .700 ball, September should be a lot kinder.

It'll take 21-8 and winning every series outright including the make-up against Anaheim to play .700 ball (which I think would break the club record for wins in a month). And we face our three biggest foes. If there ever was an opportune time to really catch on fire, it's now.

All any team can ask is for a chance to determine their own fate. Well, in August the Sox are gonna get their chance.

assume we are going to lose every 5th game with vazquez on the mound, but if we can give buehlre about 7 runs everytime he pitches and if freddy garcia can pitch his way out of an inning everytime the person steals second base we will be fine in august i believe

Sir yes sir, Sgt!!!

I feel it as well. The Sox will get it rolling tonight, Buerhle shall return, and our good guys will go on a tear unparalleled in the annals of baseball history.

HEY MR. NEGATIVE You already posted your doom on another thread you started. If youre so unhappy go to the MLB boards and spew your insight.

C'mon man, I know a lot of stuff w/ the Sox has not been too swell lately, but they still have the ability to play some serious ball! Wouldn't kill ya to have a LITTLE optomism.

For the stretch drive...

Neil Finn wrote the song "Can You Hear Us" as a fan tribute to New Zealand's rugby team a few years ago (their uniforms also consist of Black & White). Perhaps "SoxEd" could contact Neil for us to have him tweak the lyrics to the Sox angle and show scenes of WSIers watching games at the Cell and in some Southside taverns to highlight our devotion to the team.

As the chorus goes:

Can you hear us we'll never let go
Can you hear us and carry our hopes

It's the third video down:

I'll go with your prognosis. Friday night I asked in chat, "when are these guys gonna win a freakin' game?" At that time it was 4-2 bad guys, and you said, "tonight."

Later that night, Baltimore was Gloaded. :mg:

So if august has never been good for the sox- they're due for a great august!

What are the odds that a team never excels in a particular month?

I can feel it- August be bery bery good to sox.

My projections are a little more timid that most.

I have them going 18-11 in August and 16-13 in Sept.

This would have the Sox finishing with 96 wins. :(: (Assuming they beat Runelvyz "The Hippo" Hernandez tonight.)

Hopefully that'll be enough, but I'm not so sure.

If we pitch, we get back into it, even possibly for the division, but some things will have to change big-time with our pitching.

It's all about the pitching and right now, our pitching down right blows. Errors are up and baserunning mistakes have been frequent lately. Offense is hot 1 day and cold the next, but we all know that good pitching can slow any offense. It all starts with pitching.

This is my daughter and Thome's birthday month. She says it's all wins from here and despite her tender 10 years....I gotta think she's right!

August has never been kind to the Sox

Probably mostly true but there are always exceptions. 1983 was pretty good. They mounted a charge and were about 21-9 in August that year. So you never know.

I wonder how many times Ozzie plays the "A" lineup in August.

As Hawk likes to say: "we are the only team in the league that controls our owen destiny." The schedual is in pour favor. It's time to step up or lay down. If they don't play well they aren't making the playoffs. If they do they set themselves up pretty nicely. The pitchiung needs to step up.
