The current poll question on ESPN.COM is "Will the White Sox make the playoffs this year?"

As of right now, with 39,353 votes in it's 42% YES, 58% NO.

You know what to do... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/index?&lpos=globalnav&lid=gn_MLB_MLB

I'm a big White Sox fan and I hope we make the playoffs of course.. I also think we have a pretty good shot at it... but the 42% "yes" vote is pretty appropriate given our odds.

Assuming we're in a 3 way battle for the wildcard, that would put our odds at 33%. (it's actually less if you count in longshots like the Blue Jays)

Assuming we have a small chance to win our division, that might make the odds a little bit more favorable.

But either way, I'll take 42% at THIS point, I'd say its fair.

Having said that I think we will go on a tear and get in the playoffs and hopefully win it all again!

It looks like many of the states the totals aren't far off from 50%; the main disparities are in the Northeastern/New England states (apparently because they feel both Boston and the Yankees will make the playoffs), and of course Minnesota (apparently there are a lot of Twinkies fans in North Dakota as well, unless Minnesota is bullying them for votes).

Oh, no, if enough people don't vote for the Sox, they won't make the playoffs!

My thoughts exactly. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the need to stuff the ballot boxes everytime the Sox are mentioned in a poll. Screw those people.

If this had anything to do with the Sox actually making the playoffs, I would vote.

This is just ESPN going out of its way to make sure you, the White Sox fan, is disrespected.

Thank goodness you wrote what I was thinking. You can lump those polls in with all of the useless "Power Rankings" that are popular now and flush 'em down the toilet...they determine nothing in the end.
