Is anyone planning on coming up to the Humpdome for the weekend series August 18, 19, 10?

One of my recently graduated students (a Twins fan, of course) has been after me to go to a game at the dome with him for some time. He's a serious baseball fan, and I've been putting him off because I hate the dome so much.

However, I finally agreed to go with him to the game on the 18th. Will anybody from WSI be there? We'll be in section 100 in left field.

My brother lives in the Cities and never has anyone to go to the game with. I am heading up that way to see the Sox. Last time he went some Twins fans threw batteries at him. I am hoping they will leave him alone since he is bringing his little sister!

My dad and I are making the drive for the Saturday and Sunday games. Don't know the sections off hand, though. We'll definitely have to get the WSI gang together.

Any suggestions for a hotel? Haven't done any research yet, but I'd like to be as close to HHH without paying an arm and a leg.

I will be there on the 18th, somewhere in the outfield seats.

I usually catch at least 2 out of 3 depending on my schedule. I usually go outfield if there are tickets available, if not, its upper tank for me.

A guy I know at work had gotten Sec 135, 2nd row tickets, but cannot go now. $26 a ticket(face value). No fees.

I'll be in section 100, row 12, don't remember the seat numbers right now. I plan on wearing my Sox Hawaiian shirt, haven't decided which cap to wear yet. Probably '59.

Just wondering if any of you folks have any suggestions as to which hotel to stay at...

We don't have to be right next to the dome or anything, but something in the same area code would be nice. Anybody have any favorites (that aren't terribly expensive)?

Thanks!

I used hotwire.com for the 8/18-8/20 weekend. We have three rooms at $90 each a night at the Radisson (4 stars I guess).

Hotwire.com doesn't release the name of the hotel until you buy, but I've never heard a bad thing about hotwire-if they says its downtown, its downtown.

**I just checked-they have 4-star rooms for $71 downtown at hotwire now.

I was looking into the HHM for a possible Sept trip seeing that the 9-30 game will not be televised again. It may be an important game.

Anyways, I can't believe that you can get into a major league ballpark for $6. Season tickets for $200!

How bad are those seats?

You'd be better off popping for left field, $17 bucks in home run alley. We're talking about a football stadium here, you get what you pay for.

I will be there Sat and Sun. My uncle is flying me out there. He is a doctor at Mayo Clinic. We are sitting in what he called "box seats" I don't know I have never been to a game there but I know he got the tickets through the Clinic.

This'll be my first trip to the Humpdome, I read there's a bar (Humphrey's) right by the dome, is it easy to find? Is it a good place to go before the game, we're flying in at 2 on the 18th.

Try Priceline. Not many people are in Minn. on the weekends in hotels so you could get a room cheap.

Still seats left on the Twin's site in the homerun porch. $17 for a weekend game feels like a steal.

Call the Windy City Sox Fans at (708) 424-8520. They might have some spare tix from the cancelled road trip. Heck, they still had a hotel room available in the Sox' hotel for the weekend the last I checked.

My crew should be at Huberts on Chicago and 6th (right by the dome) by 2:30 Friday. I'm told that's the best meeting spot/pregame watering hole, the only bar really close to the dome.

Does have any post-game downtown bars to recommend?

I don't know for sure yet, but I may find myself in St. Small that weekend. If so, I am going to try and make the Sunday game. I am not looking forward to seeing a baseball game in that dome, though. Inside baseball is just wrong.

I'll be in Section 100, Row 4 with my mom and dad on Friday. I'll be wearing a Jenks alternate jersey and a BP cap. Stop by and say hi, I'm getting there early to watch some BP. Does anyone know what time the gates open?

I was up there last year in September when the Sox took two out of three, I just can't bring myself to pay for a trip to see baseball in that awful stadium, thank god they are building a new one up there

As for good bars to go to......we wen to a bunch of bars on the University of Minnesota campus which were a good time and there were a ton of Sox fans there.......there's also some good bars near the target center........I think its called the "warehouse district"

I'll be in Section 100, Row 4 with my mom and dad on Friday.I'll be eight rows behind you, and am also planning to get there to watch some batting practice, after a stop in Hubert's most likely. I'll be sure to look for you.

With the light rail working the warehouse district (starting with the target center and continuing north for four blocks) is a great place to go before or after the game.

Champps (across 6th street from Target Center in Butler Square) is a good sports bar and has an outdoor alley bar also. Alley is good if it is a nice night out.
Hooters (across 1st ave from Target Center). Needs no explanation.
The Loon (1 block north from Target Center on 5th st and 1st ave). Bar with local flavor.
Brothers (1 block north from Target Center on 5th st and 1st ave). College age crowd. Best happy hour downtown: all drinks 2 for 1 from 3-7pm(you can get 2 pitchers of Mich Golden Light for like $10 ) but doesn't get busy till 10 or 11.

A bunch of other bars too.
