Around the majors

Teams keep coming after the Rockies for Jack Cust. Recently, it appreared that they had a three-way that would have sent Cust to the White Sox for Aaron Rowand, with Cust then moving on to Oakland for Cory Lidle, but Chicago decided against it. The A's then would have had to try to get another pitcher, but could not pry Ted Lilly away from the Yankees.

Seems like a good deal for the Sox to pull the trigger on. Lidle was a reliable starter for Oakland with an ERA in the mid threes, and now that the Sox have Lofton in cener with Simmons and Liefer possible backups, it seems like Rowand could be expendable. Especially if you consider that Borchard should be up sometime in the near future.

Any thoughts on this deal?

How is this deal not done? Lidle or Cust is pretty large improvement over Rowand IMO..........either way you are doing well....and how much worse in Left could Cust be than Lee? is Konerko a gold-glover at First? Either way this would have been a nice deal...2 way or 3 way

Our OF is in a log jam anyways, and LTP coming up next year, and with the acquiring of Harris, I don't see why this wasn't done. We get a guy with a 3.5 ERA last year in his first spot to start games only.

So, this deal is dead, or is it stil lup to the Sox to pull the trigger.

I dunno, I like Crash, I'd hate to see him go, but, with LTP coming up, there's little room out there.

Kenny Williams, you dumbass. At least I'm assuming it was him that didn't want to. If not, Jerry Reinsdorf, you dumbass.

I'm not going to call him a dumbass based on Gammons rumors.

There will be plenty of actual deals to call him a dumbass over.

Move that "x" over to the Pessimistic side Heads.

Yes, they were hot on his trail last year as well. He would hit a ton in a place like Coors Field.

I've been hearing so much about Col. wanting Rowand. We just might see him there before the season starts. Hopefully KW don't mess that up.

Anyone know how much Lidle makes? Rowand have to be around 250,000 a year. If Lidle makes alot more maybe JR killed the deal.

I know I am only 18, but in my life it has always seemed to me that Chicago goes against good trades and for ****ty ones. I am glad that they never made that trade for Erstad.

I agree this one would have been good. But I don't know. Lidle has pitched 4 years in teh majors. He is 30 years old and only has had one good year. Its true he could be good, but I don't know.

Overall I think I am glad this didn't happen.
