Gone almost a month without a word other than vacation? Is there something we don't know about or has Eddie Munster actually earned a month's vacation. Kinda makes you wonder with Couch writing the hate lately. Not something you can quit and going back to being a reporter. Stay tuned.

In the booth...he has been there forever, I'm sure a 8 weeks of vacation is in his contract, probably takes a month in the summer...look for him to be back in Aug. They will never can him, it's a business and he sells papers, like him or not

In the booth; in fact, when that emcee guy introduces him, he says something like, "From the Chicago Sun-Times...."

On vacation?

What kind of vacation would it be when he's still working ESPN on a daily basis? Doesn't he believe in giving viewers and readers a vacation?

Even worse. Sun Times has apparently given him a 3 year extension. Its right there on their website.

soxfan13
08-01-2006, 08:58 AM
Said it before but the reason he got the extension is because people are still talking about him even though he hasnt written in a month

Well, this solves the mystery. He was in contract negotiations with the paper. Thank God the Sun Times and Jay were able to come to an agreement.

I don't read his column, nor do I watch ATH, so I didn't miss him at all. Hell, I didn't even know he was missing.

The real question is will he call for a boycott/fine/suspension for Mel Gibson in his column this week, lol.

Did you read that ridiculous apology Gibson had to read...there's no way that a publicist didn't come up with that.

Britt Burns

Wow, his come back article was particularly craptacular, even for him. Kenny should have made a big trade for Soriano blah blah blah. Windsock must not even be keeping up with the games, as any moron(otti) with an IQ near Forrest Gump's could see we need pitching, not Soriano, Abreu, etc. :windsock:

Obviously, he hates Brandon McCarthy. "If he's so precious, then why isn't he in the rotation?" We're wondering that, but this man has no patience for KW whatsoever. We'll see who's talking come October.

caulfield12

Well, the Yankees went with that approach, knowing they couldn't get a frontline starter, so they decided the All-Star at every position in the order might be better....

CF Damon
SS Jeter
DH Giambi
3B A-Rod
LF Matsui
1B Sheffield
RF Abreu
C Posada
2B Cano

I don't think there's been a better offensive line-up, when healthy/if healthy, than what the Yanks will have...even the mid 90's Indians. And that doesn't even include Bernie Williams, who's had a pretty decent comeback season.

On second thought, it would make more sense to restart the line-up with Abreu and Cano at the bottom together...

I think that's the reason he was given an extension. Ownership obviously feels that his faults (including ripping said ownership) aren't outweighed by the 'publicity' that he brings to the Sun-Times.

Unfortunately in today's media, controversy is better then the actual journalism.

It's a sad state when the reporter becomes a story in the first place and in many cases bigger then the story they are covering.

For what it's worth I've spoken with folks who work with him at various levels and there are very few who have anything nice to say about him.
