I dont' really like the barrage of anti-ozzie articles, but I agree with it substantively as far as the retaliation goes.
Retaliation, at this point, doesn't result in protecting the team. It results in more head hunting of our players, because they know we'll retaliate and get our players tossed. In retalitation, we're throwing at their a$$, which is all you can do, but it doesn't mean much or scare anybody.
We're in a box...the best thing to do is to ignore it until it quiets down.

just look at that his picture. The dumbass is the type of guy who writes something, then runs home and calls his mom " MOM, I just talked to Jay Mariotti, He told me Im a cool guy. He has to be the greatest guy ever!! I swear mom, You were right, even though I have never had any friends, I have the best one ever now"

He has his head so far up Mariottis ass just because he thinks mariotti is his home boy.

Your right Dome .He was crying to Ozzie telling him well I'm going to print what you said and tell jay like Ozzie or really anyoner else cared.I dint always agree with what Ozzie says and does. But any smart fan knows and Ozzie has said it .his way is to take the pressures off the players and put it on himself...I like good journalism and critical journalism when warranted. But not for a Journalist to use his writing in an absurd and irresponsible way, just becuse he doesnt like the manager personally

"Chris Widger was sacrificed as a warning to the rest of the players not to mess up the Master Plan..."

ROTFLMAO! No, seriously, how can anyone even read that stuff? Widger, "sacrificed"? Bwahahahahahahahaha!! Yeah, be careful, guys -- if you bat .143 and don't call good games, you might be "sacrificed"!

"Master Plan"?? What, to win another WS championship? Oh my, I found Kenny Williams's MASTER PLAN! Alert the Pentagon!

Good gosh, Couch needs to get a life and so -- no offense to anyone here -- does anyone who actually reads and considers the trash he turns out.

And wasn't there a whole lot of this flavor crap last year, about how Ozzie's personality was hurting the team? Yeah, surrrre (to quote Jim Bouton)...

You have to remember when Couch was called out for his articles last year, he whinned to the Moron. The Moron then wrote how mean the Sox players are. This is nothing new. There is a reason why he is considered a media troll on these parts.

Couch is also the guy who had the stones to tell Ozzie he was going to write a column quoting Ozzie on his comments about Mariotti and offering him the chance to retract or modify his comments.

He deserves major props for doing that. That's the way the business is supposed to be done.

Not saying I agree with everything he writes and have told him so, but if you're going to rip a guy then you also give him credit where it is due.

This is also the same guy who, last year, after the Sox started out 8-4, said that we "shouldn't buy what the Sox are selling", that they were a house of cards, etc. He then proceeded to constantly rip them, then back track, all through the 2005 season. Hey, how'd that work out for ya pal ? Tell me again who won the 2005 World Series ?? Of course, when the Cubs were tearing up the league this year, after 12 whole games, with an 8-4 record, I'm sure he was one of the guys, along with Rick Morrisey- (I don't know why I'm picking them. I just am. I just have this feeling)-, WGN's VERY own Spike O'Dell, and Terry Boers -(I...I just have this feeling of good Cubs karma this year..)- who were trying to be first in line to get their 2006 Cubs World Series tickets and memorabilia. Again, how's that working out for you guys ?

Couch is a hineybird, and that's all you need to know.

He's been Mariotti's mouthpiece ever since the Ozzie story broke. It's obvious.

Though I agree with Lip, that it showed some stones to make that offer to Ozzie, but what Couch doesn't understand is that Ozzie's beef is with Mariotti, and it needs to be taken care of directly between Jay & Ozzie (face to face) and not by Jay's mouthpiece.

Why would Ozzie respond to a second reporter who obviously has it out for him?

Couch did something by going to Ozzie personally that Mariotti would never have the gonads to do. Big difference between the two individuals wouldn't you say?

Okay fine, so he's one head above Mariotti... he's still clearly on an Ozzie vendetta. Already spouting, "A World Series ring does not provide a lifetime of Teflon."

The media is so pathetically self-righteous it's just sickening sometimes.

While Im not anti media by any means, or judgemental, but I dont remember where I heard this, but it is the best (and MAYBE the truest) comment ever about media player relations

"You take most pro athletes, and they were the people everyone loved and wanted to hang out with in high school. Then you take the smarter kids who wanted to be them, envied them, and were jealous of them. They turn out to be writers, and get to determine the views of the popular kids later in life"

look at Greg Couch. The guy is blatantly a tool, probably has had his fair share swirlies and wedgies, you don't think everytime he can bash a popular sports Icon he doesnt think he is getting one back for the little guys?

When I read Couch's article, my first thought was "Man, Mariotti ain't on "vacation" any more; he's now working as Couch's ghost writer!"

Sometimes I wonder why we give the "Cubune" so much static. The most annoying sportswriters in town don't work for them.
