Some people (Cubs fans) have been telling me the Sox have never been good and are one of the worst teams in baseball in recent years. I argue against that, obviously, but logic seems to defy their minds. Where can I find a listing of every team's overall record for the 1990s? That might help them see what I'm talking about.

Your friends have been drinking Cubbie KoolAid.

Excuse me while I whip this out...

1990 to present:
Sox 984-881
Cubbies 892-984
1990-1999, the Cubbies only had 2 where they finished with better records than the Sox (1995, 1998)

26 of the last 59 years, the White Sox outdrew the Cubbies.

1951-1967 the Sox outdrew the Cubbies every year except 1958!

1974-1984 the Sox outdrew the Cubbies in 7 of those years.

Here's the best part, in the last 59 years...

The Sox had a better record than the Cubbies 40 of those 59 years.
90+ Wins: Cubbies 5, WS 12
.500 or better: Cubbies 17, WS 31

In terms of total regular season wins from 1992-2001, here's how the teams stack up...

1) Braves - 949
2) Yankees - 895
3) Indians - 870
4) Astros - 838
5) Giants - 817
6) WHITE SOX - 813
7) Mariners - 811
8) Red Sox - 807
9) Reds - 795
10) Cardinals - 792
11) Dodgers - 790
12) Blue Jays - 789
13) Orioles - 788
14) Rangers - 783
15) Athletics - 779
16) Mets - 775
17) Expos - 755
18) Padres - 754
19) Cubs - 738
20) Angels - 734
21) Phillies - 728
22) Brewers - 726
23) Pirates - 712
24) Royals - 710
25) Twins - 703
26) Tigers - 686
27) Rockies - 667
28) Marlins - 667
29) Diamondbacks - 342
30) Devil Rays - 263

Of course, the Rockies, Marlins, Dbacks, and DRays haven't been around 10 years, so whatever. The point remains that, at least in the regular the season, the Sox have teh 6th most wins in the MLB (3rd most in the AL)...

Whether or not that's consolation for you since the Sox have all of 2 postseason wins in that same time period, well... Let's stay happy tonight! :gulp:

Hey, I followed your guidelines!

No, but really, the Tigers are just a terrible franchise... daver sums it up the best.

They haven't put up a winning record since 1993...

From 1990-99 the White Sox had the 4th best record in base-
ball. The only three ahead of them were Atlanta, the Yankees
and the Indians. The Sox are the only one of the top 4 of the
'90's not to play in the World Series. (Naturally.)
