This officially cuts ties with Polittle, errr, I mean Politte. Guess he's not even worth a third tier "prospect"...

Agreed. I hated to see him struggle. Hopefully he'll catch on and improve.

The same thing happened with Cliff in Toronto if I recall correctly. Hopefully someone picks him up and he turns things around.

He's not off base. Take a look at all of NSDS's posts. He appears to be a miserable soul.

After looking them over, I must say, he is a busted leg.

Good luck, Cliff. You were 7-1 with a 2 buck era last year and a big part of our success.

The last game I saw you pitch was when you came in during the 19th inning against Boston last Sunday and put up a sweet 0 in your frame!

We won that game next at bat and you got the win. When I got home I put on the TV and I heard you say something to the effect that the other relievers, but not you specifically, deserve the win. You are a class act.

But let me tell you that it was you who got it done that day and sent me home happy.

Maybe your right arm only has so many bullets (as it is with all power pitchers). But thanks for saving so many of them for us.

He was great the first half of 2005, we owe him for that.

Yes Cliff was lights out in 2005 and he definitely was a major reason for the team's success. Good luck in the future Cliff, I hope you have another season or two left in that old wing of yours. You were a class act your entire time on the southside.

Cliff, I saw you not get rocked by Boston during the 7-2 loss. Thanks for that...

...and for 2005:gulp:

You won it all while at your best.

Last year it was Shingo who was let go after being the mainstay of the bullpen in 2004. It happens to a few veteran relievers every year. I hope the next experienced guy who loses it isn't someone the Sox pick up to bolster their bullpen.

I'm not happy that the Sox released Politte. I'm unhappy that a pitcher who seemed to enjoy so much to pitch for the Sox simply lost it this year.

Thanks for the memories, Cliff. Sorry things went so badly for you this year. Good luck!!

So far the thread breaks down as follows:

19 posters thank Cliff for 2005 and wish him luck in the future
3 posters tell Cliff not to let the door hit him on the way out
10 posters off-topic, mostly about the meanderings one very negative poster

So let me throw one more on to the pro-Cliff Politte pile. 2005 was great and I hope he does find "it" again.

Good luck to Cliff, thanks for the life long '05 memory. I hope he does find sucess with another team, as long as its not a playoff contention team that we have to face. :gulp: A cold one for #18
