I'd go with Roberto Hernandez. Your choice?

None. I think we are fine with Jenks+Riske+McCarthy+Cotts+Thornton+other ...

If we can get Hernandez for cheap then sure I'd take him, but who cares if he's on our team pitching with a 7-4 deficit?

Hernandez, because the price to get him would be low.

Hernandez would be serviceable, but that is about it. He would be the last man out of the pen, no doubt.
Howry would put up a good ERA, but you can count on him to explode several times a year and lose you some games.
Eyre is a lefty, and we are set from the left side.
I would go with Sanchez. I don't know much about him personally, but I have heard he is good and can be great. He would be our righty set-up man. Riske is good, but he would be all that much better if he were pushed back to the end of the pen. However, the Mets are going to the playoffs, and they aren't going to weaken their pen unless they get a good starter in return. I don't see it happening.

With the Mets running away with their division, I don't believe they will move either reliever to bring in a starter. They have time to get some people back healthy.

This poll should be public so we can see who in the hell would want Eyre and Howry.

All polls should be public. Our relievers, now that we canned Cliff is a good bunch. I'll keep what we got.

I went with 'other' on this one, but I think Gordon would be costly.

Why isnt Gordon an option?

If the Mets don't get another starter, then they're only going to win their division. I seriously do not think that team will do anything in the playoffs. Astros pitching will shut that offense down, and then they're screwed.

But they can get a starter elsewhere, because we need all the pitching we can get.

I want to see what we would have to give up to get someone. If the price is too high I woudnt buy. If you have to pay like the Reds did I would rather stick to the team we have.

Linebrink from the Padres. 94-97 mph fastball, splitter, slider. He is affortable.

Bruuuuce Levine said we are currently scouting the Padres minor league organization because we are supposedly looking at trading for Linebrink and possibly a bigger deal.

This is the guy I'd like too. The problem is that it happens to be a seller's market right now. IThe price the White Sox would likely have to pay would be high.

I wouldn't include McCarthy in any realistic deal; I expect this kid will be in the starting rotation next year.

Screw that noise. Now that we got rid of Cliff I think we are fine. He was the main problem.

So do Ozzie and Kenny, but don't tell anybody. The rumors are too funny.

If that's the case someone is going to be going from the current rotation I guess. Question is do you trade them now when they can help you for this season or hold off until the offseason when there are a lot more people available and teams can reload through trade or FA? Or maybe we're just going to use a 6 man rotation in 2007.

Roberto Hernandez, because that completes the circle back to 1993. It's all about that. It's perfect. (*brooding over 1993 and 1997 again*)

right with you, there KRS. Give the kid some time and innings. He's gunna be a good one. This year's Jenks (but to a lessor extent).

The plan has always been to trade one starter during the offseason to bring McCarthy into the rotation.

Look at Duaner's road splits and you won't want him anymore. He's Cliff Politte outside of Shea.

Count me in on the Linebrink bandwagon.

And while we're at it, let's swap Uribe for Khalil Greene.:bandance::bandance:

That's unfair. He has a 4.29 ERA outside of Shea. But, he had one outing where he blew up and allowed 4 runs in .1 of an inning. Take away that outing and he has allowed 6 runs in 20.2 innings, or a 2.61 ERA.

I'm looking for someone who gets everyone out yet won't cost us anything. Is that too much to ask for?

If we make the playoffs, we will need our bullpen this year. Our starters will not do what they did last year.

So, we need Tom Gordon.
