This is really getting silly now :?:

Just when you thought the World Series ball episode couldn't get any more ridiculous, Doug Mientkiewicz comes to town with the Kansas City Royals and promises to open old wounds (http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Sox+Beat%3A+World+Series+bal l+wounds+remain&articleId=e2ab1095-1a34-4185-bcfc-72d8ec7351ad), channeling Bill Clinton. Seriously. And if you think the issue could become any more stupid, Keith Foulke opens his mouth and … well, nothing more needed there really.

I should point out the writer says this about Paulie

Paul Konerko, you might remember, was good enough to give the ball he caught for the final out in last year's Fall Classic to White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf, a classy move that Foulke and Mientkiewicz should have taken note of and realized how silly they were being over this whole process. The Red Sox, too. It's a ball.

Doug Mienk&^%*^asdf-*** did nothing but make pitchers think twice about throwing the ball to first for the final out of any World Series.

I don't think that Foulke was saying the ball should be his. I think he was speaking within the context of Dougie Mienkwtf.

It's funny how Mientkiewicz says it wasn't as big of a deal as everyone made it out to be and he was just joking the whole time. No you piece of crap, you thought you could make money of that ball and when you realized everyone thought you were an jackass and that legally you would never make a cent off that ball, then and only then did you give it up.

What did the Red Sox do in the playoffs last year? They won the World Series two years ago. Who cares? Everybody else besides White Sox fans have already foregot about our title, its time to do the same with the Red Sux. They should just give the ball to Chris Berman for being the biggest Red Sox apologist and butt kisser on the planet

Well that ball belonged to him officially authorized by MLB themselves. Red Cubs first borrowed it and then kept it without returning it. Try that trick on ur mortgage company.

So it took Foulke almost 2 years to come up with this one?

Yet he is downright Churchillian compared with Foulke. Speaking with reporters Sunday, good ol’ Foulkie put it out there that he deserves the ball. And while he was at it, he announced he’d like to get back the pair of cleats he was wearing the night the Red Sox (http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox.bg) won the World Series.

He didn’t “donate” them to the Hall of Fame, he said. He “loaned” them.

Fine. Memo to the Hall of Fame: Give Foulke his stupid shoes back.

No, he actually thinks the ball should be his. He argues that Josh Beckett and Mike Timlin have the balls from the 2003 and 1992 World Series, respectively, so why shouldn't he?

Both sides agreed to give it to the Hall of Fame. (http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Sox+Beat%3A+World+Series+bal l+wounds+remain&articleId=e2ab1095-1a34-4185-bcfc-72d8ec7351ad)

The Sox claimed that they were the rightful guardian of the treasured item. Several months of nastiness ensued, reaching its resolution first when Mientkiewicz agreed to loan the ball to the club, then when the two sides agreed to give the ball to the Hall of Fame.

Both Boston papers gave as much coverage to the stupid ball as the game itself today. The whole thing borders on the absurd.

Nobody told the Red Sox the White Sox are the current World Champs as they still parade the trophy all over New England at CVS stores. I saw it downtown 2 weeks ago and the line went for blocks to get your picture with it.

Who the **** cares. How much time have you spent worrying about the 2005 Paulie/Jerry ball? Me? None. Even if there was a controversy. None, nada, zilch, zip.

One would think that rather than being a complete baby about his stuff going into the Hall of Fame, he'd be honored to have something there of his, as he was part of a World Series Championship that was 86 years in the making.

I remember hearing that Joe Crede is very particular about his glove, but when MLB approached him to take it to the Hall of Fame as part of a collection of many Sox items, we didn't see him complaining and being a baby about it.

Hey Foulke, you could take a lesson from your former teammate here. It's not always all about you!
