With the Cubs acquiring the greatest bat in the history of baseball, I thought Bud Selig was going to cancel the remainder of the season and declare the Cubs World Series champions. At least that's the impression I've been hearing from Cub fans.

Watch. The Cubs' starting pitching, not their lack of hitting, is what will doom them down the stretch.

This is the Cubs' year to capture lightning in a bottle. They come once every ten years or so.

MacFail acquired a pile of **** and turned it into Shinola. You think Jeff Fassero will EVER perform like this again? Or Jason Bere? How many grandchildren do Kevin Tapani and Jon Lieber have?

You talk about fluke seasons, this is it. They're right back in the crapper next season. When was their last back-to-back winning seasons?

Selig's unbalanced schedule has turned mongrels into potential division champs. The N.L. Central is the laughingstock of baseball but one of those teams will be playing in October. You only need to win SEVEN LOUSY GAMES to make it to the World Series. That's what is scary. A bit of luck goes a long way in the playoffs.

When they start beating their chests just remember these four little words:

"Four games to Two!"

Yeah that is true but they say "well we were looking forward to more important games vs. Houston."
